StriKe Posted December 22, 2014 Posted December 22, 2014 New Delhi: Cut-throat competition is expected when it comes to making the final-15 for the 2015 Cricket World Cup and all-rounder Stuart Binny feels the extra pace he has gained of late makes his case stronger ahead of the all important selection early next month. Binny has not made the most of his international opportunities, both with bat and ball in three Tests and six ODIs. The 30-year-old, however, remains confident of securing a World Cup berth. Three games into the Ranji Trophy, the Karnataka player says he is especially satisfied with how his bowling is coming along. Binny was impressive in his eight-over spell against Railways during a Group A game here today. "I have actually gone up on my pace in the last 8-10 months. After entering international cricket, I realised I need to step up on the pace. I worked a bit in the gym and the run up is harder than last year. The results are showing," said Binny when asked about the extra pace he has gained recently. "I have got a bit stronger in the legs. I was bowling consistent 125 kmph and I have added 3-4 kmph to that. The stronger legs have helped me run in harder than earlier," he said. Binny, however, feels he needs to be more consistent with the bat. He has got starts in three of his four Ranji innings but has only one big knock to his name, the 77 against Tamil Nadu in Bangalore. "I am happy with the way I have batted (in the recent domestic matches) but pretty disappointed at not being able to convert starts. It doesn't help my case but my rhythm has been good," he added. :hysterical::hysterical: Our WC :((:(( http://sports.ndtv.com/australia-vs-india-2014-15/news/234903-stuart-binny-banking-on-extra-pace-to-seal-2015-world-cup-spot?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+ndtv%2FqJNd+%28CRICKETNDTV.COM+-+Latest+News%29
Sidhoni Posted December 22, 2014 Posted December 22, 2014 :cantstop: I thought it was a faking news article when I read the title
Shivaji bhonsle Posted December 22, 2014 Posted December 22, 2014 Don't be surprised if he gets selected in the final 15.
maniac Posted December 22, 2014 Posted December 22, 2014 :cantstop: but can't insult a guy for trying though

StriKe Posted December 22, 2014 Author Posted December 22, 2014 :hysterical: But, he is going to make the final 16...Somehow get the feeling... He will be selected under AR/Pace option for our squad :wall: :wall:
tweaker Posted December 22, 2014 Posted December 22, 2014 Lucky fellow,it helps to have father as selector
fineleg Posted December 22, 2014 Posted December 22, 2014 What? How did he get stronger legs suddenly! What kinda BS is this.
beetle Posted December 22, 2014 Posted December 22, 2014 What? How did he get stronger legs suddenly! What kinda BS is this. fat legs...he means fat legs.
Iconoclast Posted December 22, 2014 Posted December 22, 2014 fat legs...he means fat legs. Strong leg and core muscles are important for generating pace. If your boy BK started going to the gym and doing squats and dead lifts perhaps he could his pace (and weight) over 130 also.
nevada Posted December 22, 2014 Posted December 22, 2014 Atleast we now know what it takes to bowl faster. Ishant, Varun, Umesh, Bhuvi, Shami - every body do leg curls and strengthen your legs NOW!
Austin 3:!6 Posted December 22, 2014 Posted December 22, 2014 If the choice is between Binny and Mohit, I would take Binny any day.
Pagalpanti Posted December 22, 2014 Posted December 22, 2014 I wont be surprised if he's selected. We have had 1 or 2 joke selections in every tournament. Chawla got free ride in couple of tournaments.
Gollum Posted December 22, 2014 Posted December 22, 2014 Strong leg and core muscles are important for generating pace. If your boy BK started going to the gym and doing squats and dead lifts perhaps he could his pace (and weight) over 130 also. He bowls over 130 anyways. Mostly in low 130s but with his control, swing and intelligence I will take him any day over fast bowlers like Aaron and Shami.
Crookbond Posted December 22, 2014 Posted December 22, 2014 Here's a guy who is trying and we Indian fans find a way to ridicule that too. I mean there's a limit to pessimism and hate. Let Binny demonstrate his increase in pace, take a look at this bowling and then make a comment. It might well be that Binny is crap but w/o looking at him in domestic cricket there's no point entering into a ridicule baraat.
coffee_rules Posted December 22, 2014 Posted December 22, 2014 He will be selected no matter all this ridicule. A better pick than some super fast bowler with a brain fart as batting experience.
