gakgupta Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 Ashwin has been bowling beautifully from last 2 matches. These pitches are not spin- friendly. But yet, he had a great impact on the game. Wicket of Haris Sohail with a beautiful conventional off-spin delivery has opened up the gates. He helped himself with few wickets in SA match as well....Most notable difference is his flight and turn.....However, I am not an expert to access the action.....Any experts here who can tell what has changed with his action?

Problem is, when he starts to bowl beautifully, he gets carried away after a couple of games and becomes impatient. Starts trying too much variation, gets into a rush to to get wickets instead of building towards wickets, and in the process loses all effectiveness. Let's see how he handles things this time over a longer run

Gollum Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 He is a legend in making. Will end up with 400 wickets,6000 runs in tests and 300 wickets,2000 runs in ODIs as long as North Indian group of BCCI doesn't play dirty politics with him. In tests he is better than Kapil statistically.

Our spinners will succeed in these conditions if the pacers put pressure on the opposition. If pacers get flogged you can forget winning in these conditions.

Even when he bowls well people criticize him by picking and choosing part of his spells. Yeah he got hit around by SA in the initial overs. We are talking about Faf and ABD batting and not some third rate batsman. Both those guys are excellent against spin. Ashwin started off with a 11 run over where Faf played a brilliant shot over covers and then edged one through the slips for 4. The next two overs Ash kind of pulled things back. He had 21 from 3 (11 of them coming from 1 over). He bowled 9 overs 30 runs and 3 wickets with his rest of the overs. He has done brilliantly well for India. People telling that he came on to bowl when chips were down, have no clue about both the games. They probably watched cricinfo scores and not the match. In the first game he came in when Pakistan were 79/1 and the game was in balance. He bowled brilliantly and took the wicket of Harris Sohail. Bowled 3 maidens in the first 5 overs of his. In the second game yes he could not dismiss, ABD and Faf but he did finish off the game and bowled well to the middle and lower order. Learn to give credit where it is due. The guy has done well in the opportunities he has got.

If pacers get flogged you can forget winning in these conditions. He did not do even this last year in NZ. In all matches, we got early wickets through pacers for spinners to mess it up.
