zen Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 Here is a different or another way to look at the teams and the competition: The QF and SF line up are divided in such a way that teams with one word names are on one side, and teams with two word names are on the other. To illustrate: Group Two Words = New Zealand, South Africa, Sri Lanka, and West Indies Group One Word = Australia, Bangladesh, India, and Pakistan Interestingly, when teams are arranged in alphabetical order within their respective groups: * The QF match line up reads as 1 vs 4, and 2 vs 3 * At #1 are both the hosts * At #2 are teams that have not won a WC KO yet * At #3 are teams that played the final in the last edition * At #4 are teams that are perceived as unpredictable Is this a pattern or a coincidence? :P Trivia Past winners: Two words - West Indies ('75, '79), Sri Lanka ('96) One word - India ('83, '11), Australia ('87, '99, '03, '07), Pakistan ('92) One word is leading 7-3 Asia (Ind, Pak, and SL) and Oceania (Australia) are tied at 4-4 Whenever a region has hosted the World Cup for the 2nd time, one of the regional teams has reached the final: * Europe: Eng - '79 ('75 first time) * Asia: SL - '96 ('87 first time) * Oceania: Aus or NZ '19? ('92 first time)

People compared things like certain team won a soccer world cup extra in such era and queen and shyt stuff like that. It was the biggest klpd ever.

A few that I remember for 2003: When India was to play Aus in the final, India was predicted to win the WC because: Starting 1979 WC, the winning captains had alternately been left / right handed... 1979 - Clive Lloyd (left) 1983 - Kapil Dev (right) 1987 - Alan Border (left) 1992 - Imran Khan (right) 1996 - Ranatunga (left) 1999 - Steve Waugh (right) So 2003 will be Ganguly (left) :--D :--D -------------------------------- After India got thrashed in the final, some jobless genius wrote: India was bound to lose coz.... - Six teams made it to the super six, but the teams that made it to the semis had their names ending in 'A' - India, Kenya, Sri Lanka and Australia... The teams that didn't make it were New Zealand and Zimbabwe - Two teams that made it to the final had their names ending in 'IA' - India and Australia. Other two ended in 'ka' and 'ya' - Australia won the final and India lost. Why? Look at the last three letters Australia ne 'lia'.... India ne 'dia' :hail:
