Cricketics Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 A lot of people thought and rightly so that Indian batting was doing well but we had played too many low profile bowling line ups leading up to the quarters. I feel it was right concern amogn the people. The shift from NZ grounds and that too playing against Zim attack, to Australia grounds had to be different. However, I feel India have been tested well now even though we dind't play the best bowling attack in last 2 games. Scoring 300 from a really pathetic position of 95 odd in 25 overs with Bangladesh actually bowling well, and also winning against Zimbabwe with lower middle order scoring has I think tested our batting enogh. I don't think we are really relying on anyone. ROHIT-DHAWAN-KOHLI-RAHANE-RAINA-DHONI have all chipped in. Have your concerns been clearned or you still have doubts about some things which India really lack. I know Australia bowling attack, if they win their quarters, will pose a huge challenge, but I feel, India has done it's best so far and we could have asked for better test for us then the ones we had in last 2 games where we chased from a position where we could have lost the game and here where we could have been bundled out early.

I am afraid thats whats gonna happen.. and we are going to falter the chase..:nervous:

G_B_ Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 Rahane is somebody who i am worried about. Depending on the match situ might be better for Raina to come ahead of him. Looks out of sorts this innings. BD to be fair were bowling well

May be Dhoni-Fletch instructed him to do so. To be honest, even though Rahane got out, the conservitive approach did help India from other end. Rohit's inning saved us. He held one end and Raina eventually took it on. I feel the team were confident of being able to put 100 runs in last 12 overs(2 overs of powerplay) if they don't lose much wickets. And I feel was the right approach. It came in really handy.

But i was guarded with my expectations from him as his inability to pinch singles was always going to hurt us time and again. On a big ground like MCG he ended up with so many dot balls That was almost like 4 maiden overs.

Also, we were tested yes, but we were also bailed out by the opposition losing their heads than us doing anything extraordinary. After 32 overs, Ban totally lost the plot yesterday with their bowling changes, fielding, field settings etc.

I think we will see that from him in semis against Australia. To Tics post, yes most of our batsmen has been tested and everyone has succeeded. Ajinkya's knock yesterday does worry me a little bit because he just couldnt come out of the pressure that he created for himself. He was very nervous and was hitting the balls straight to the fielders, so i hope he learns a little from his knock yesterday as he is very crucial for our batting line up. He just needs to calm down a little bit more and try to rotate initially, thats what he did against South Africa and the results were there to see. Rohit scoring the century yesterday was the biggest plus, it was a Virat-like knock from him and he was in total control yesterday. So overall i am pretty happy with our batting display so far, Virat showing up in the semis and dismissing Aussie bowlers all around the park will be the icing on the cake.

Rest of the way (unless we luck out facing Pakistan in the semis), short pitched bowling tactic that has been so successful so far, is not going to be effective. How will India cope when it bowls first and is attacked by a quality team like Australia ? Remains to be seen! We need a perfect game to beat the Aussies. And Kohli better click, if he flops i dont see us competing rest of the way.

We played more freely against Pak..probably it was not a KO game...I believe Kohli and Dhoni have't joined the team yet. Dhoni needs to bat more freely in the 46-50 and score quick runs like he used to before. Kohli needs to hold one end..he is missing in this WC so far.

I think he played great against Pakistan and looked really good against South Africa but hasn't hit one of his regular hundreds. I think we have to accept in now that the roles are shifting sine India now has so many players who can match Kohli's class. Rohit-Raina-Shikhar are all now capable of scoring and putting opposition under pressure. Something they lacked earlier which only Dhoni and Kohli were doing in last few years. Rohit to me has played similar to Kohli in this world cup, and that is a great change actually since he used to give it away very easily before. Yesterday knock showed that he had to play bit conserviitve so that team doesn't get bowled out early. Rohit showing team's concern and playing the way he doesn't really play usually like, shows the gun player he is and can be and also his coming of age.

We seem to be accepting a strike rate of 75% for top order in order to 'buy' a strike rate of 125% later on. Does someone have a 100 from 50 balls in them?
kubrickian Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 Obviously, we will be tested against Australia in both bowling and batting. Aus and NZ are the teams to beat in this tournament IMO. So far, India have done well to win all their games convincingly. But its pretty much a given that our bowling and batting will be put under the pump in SF and Final(if we make it) which is when we need to do well.

We played slow in early stages so that we can go attack durinng PP and last 10 overs.

veer Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 My concern against Australia is that we may loose too many wickets by power play and that'll throw away our plan.. Today, for example, if Raina was given out around 32nd, 33rd over that would have pack us back at least 50 runs... Dhoni would have played slow and so in PP.
