Ram Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 Not sure how willing the Indian team will be to experiment in such a huge game, but opening up with Ashwin against Warner (especially if we are defending) maybe a good idea. Also, if the pitch turns out to be on the slightly slower side, will the team even consider playing B Kumar in place of Umesh? I am still slightly dubious about Umesh's ability to contain the runs if the batsmen start to go after him.

Australia's weakest ODI team in recent memory - the WC 2011 team - gave the strongest Indian team in recent memory - the same WC 2011 team - the toughest run for our money in that competition at our HOME conditions in the quarter finals. Australia were so weak back then that Ricky Ponting, despite a shadow of his former glory self, was still one of the best batsmen in this team. Since then, they have completed transformed their team and the results are showing. This Aussie team of 2015 is way better than the Aussie team of 2011 and this Indian team of 2015 is not as formidable as the one in 2011 AND we are playing in Australia. They simply have too many nuclear weapons that can detonate at any given time. When you put it that way, it just breaks my heart. :((

Chalks Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 Semi final was even worse. SRT makes 65 out of 98/1 (chasing 251), gets stumped, and then it all goes to crap. Kambli's tears. :(( That loss was arguably worse than 2003 final (where we never had a chance against the invincible Aussies).

The same Aus team couldnt qualify from Group stage in CT.Nor in last year T20 despite similar hype Yes they r good in home conditions but haven't proven anything in a pressure match .Only pressure match they played they collapsed 8-23 in Auckland

Otherwise, containing runs is not possible in today's ODI cricket.

Australia had a fit clarke,Ponting,hussey,in form Watson and a lethal bowling combination of tait,Johnson and lee.that was a pretty strong Australian side and if the wc was played in aus,they would have most likely gone to the finals.same goes to this side,put this side in SC or England,I bet they'll get knocked out in qf
putrevus Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 This Aussie team if their batting clicks they are hard to beat but there are no great batsmen in this team.Other than Smith everyone has lot of weaknesses, if Indians are patient they will do well.
