http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/world/europe/Germanwings-co-pilot-deliberately-crashed-plane-French-officials/articleshow/46703655.cms These are chilling details , if they are true. Pilots need to be evaluated properly, can't give the keys to loonies.
This is scary. But it is not the first time when something like this has happened. There is a another case of an Egyptian airlines where pilot drowned the plane in Atlantic killing everybody onboard. But I am surprised why Piliot was allowed inside by himself. After MH 370 there have been rules that one pilot can not be left along inside cockpit. Whenever co-pilot steps out lead of the crew staff has to be inside cockpit until co-pilot comes back. I have seen this happening in domestic flights so many times. Senior Air Hostess or steward would get in the cockpit before one of the pilot comes out. It should be a must for all flights across the globe.

There was a case of Silkair flight too. The pilot lost a lot of money in gambling, then bought an insurance cover 4 months back. Investigation showed that the plane was in recoverable condition till it hit the ground. They concluded it as pilot suicide.

What a cold calculated POS. His parents must be ashamed now of procreating such pathetic human being. Huge error on Pilot's part of not having a crew member take his place...never let one man have access to the door. Also not sure if there was a keypad to manual enter code to unlock the door that the crew usually memorizes. Wouldn't have made a diff as the co-pilot could keep the door locked. They are saying that cockpit is usually pretty loud....the mic having picked up passenger screams means they were quite loud. Imagine the despair....u know u're about to die but can't do anything about it. :((

Don't know why Pilot is blamed before the investigation is complete, sure voice recorder blames him for the crash at this point of time ,but media trial is the worst thing IMO. If you go by Air crash Investigation , MH370 too seem be deliberately crashed by Pilot

It is more or less certain now that smashing of craft in mountains was deliberate move of Co-pilot. Craft was always functioning properly. It has also been established that person had history of pschiatric problems. It was absolute criminal to allow somebody with such medical record to fly a commercial aircraft. Person responsible for this decision should be prosecuted for manslaughrter.

On Thursday, Lufthansa’s chief executive, Carsten Spohr, revealed that Lubitz had interrupted his training in 2009, but refused to say why. He would only say that Lubitz was eventually cleared to return to work, after passing fitness and psychological tests. On Friday however, the German newspaper Bild said that the Lufthansa flight school in Phoenix, Arizona had designated Lubitz at the time as “not suitable for flyingâ€. The newspaper said he spent a year-and-a-half receiving psychiatric treatment. Several times he was forced to repeat his flying classes because of depression, before he successfully finished his training. In 2009 he was diagnosed with a “severe depressive episodeâ€, Bild reported. He was given “special regular medical examination†by a doctor as well as the coding “SICâ€. This coding also appeared on his pilot’s licence.
This is negligence of criminal proportions. Luftansa will face a lot of lawsuits, unless passengers have signed a waiver for less fare as per fare rules.

Wow just learned that European aviation agency did not have that 2 person compulsory at all times in the cockpit rule like American airlines do. 150 lives could've been saved if they had this ridiculous common sense rule in place.
