FlickedOffHips Posted May 6, 2015 Author Posted May 6, 2015 Pretty unanimous so far. I was expecting a few more Sachin backers:(( ^ No. He can be technical batting coach. Yeah that is what I would think too, that is where he can offer more than anyone else. Not just technique but also Mental preparation and Attitude. As for who is suited for Head Coach role, my choice would be Dada, for obvious reasons. Dravid also has great insight into the game. People are underestimating his people man-management skills. He is a thinker and I can easily see him as a Duncan Fletcher type figure. Down the line- MS Dhoni. He already manages India and CSK on the field:haha:
mishra Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 Sachin a great cricketer. But never a good tactician. Yes, The ease at which he picked opponent bowler, offcourse apart from few proven chuckers, our batters can benefit a lot. I remeber during his time all our batters managed to make some good bowlers look ordinary. I am sure he can repeat the same

Sachin and Dada together can take team skills and attitude to a totally new level. Dravid is more of PR person.
Zero_Unit Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 Nah, between sachin dravid and ganguly, ganguly is more fitted to be a coach. Sachin can be a batting consultant, not even a batting coach. His captaincy was a disaster. To be a coach, you need to be some sort of a tactician and have good analytic views. Sachin doesn't seem to have that gift.
G_B_ Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 Lol at people saying Sachin was and will be a poor tactician. His understanding of the game is more than the combined population of whole of Europe. Where he lacks is leadership skills. So, he can be a mentor plus technical consultant(sounds more like an IT designation) so how much he was such a **** captain for mumbai indians and even India? He was so **** as a captain that he was never really allowed to become a captain of the mumbai ranji team long term. Case in point Rahane. Should have been backed at Mumbai Indians. They let him goto RR. Where exactly is the knowledge there? Sachin has great technical skills. He will tell you what you ate doing wrong and what you can do to improve your batting (or even bowling) game. Tactically Ganguly is miles ahead. If Sachin was captain Bhajji Yuvi would still be playing for India cause Yuvi. Bhajji and Sachin share a "bond"
Gollum Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 The exceptionally talented rarely make good coaches - my theory would be that this is because you can't really translate or teach exceptional talent. Either you have it your do don't. The training and strategy that the average player needs should be based on average player abilities rather than 1-in-a-million talent. Very good point.

They have relieved MJ and so many other players, would you blame Sachin for the same? As a captain, he isn't a great leader of men and hence his poor record as captain. But, there aren't many who understand the game like him. It's not just batting and bowling techniques, he can give you invaluable inputs about the conditions, pitches when to attack and defend etc. which is all part of tactics. As for Ganguly being a better tactician, look no farther away from his decision in WC finals. The only aspect where he is better than Sachin is leadership and man management qualities.
Gollum Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 Tactically/strategy wise I think Dravid tops even Dada. The way he used fast bowlers, our series wins in WI(06) and Eng(07) were the stepping stones to our no 1 test ranking.
Austin 3:!6 Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 I think MS Dhoni should be our Coach, chief selector, Team director and Captain. All in one package.
BeautifulGame Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 Exactly, People argue that Dada will bring politics into game. But, they forget that Dada brought best out of bowlers like RP Singh. Sachin and Dada together can take team skills and attitude to a totally new level. Dravid is more of PR person. RP Singh debuted under Dravid .Won MOM in his first match itself under Dravid .Produced his best form in the away win in England under Dravid . But Dravid is a PR person and Ganguly deserves credit ? lol

But Dravid is a PR person and Ganguly deserves credit ? lol Dravid has been our best test captain and people just can't see this fact. Under him so many chillar chavanni fast bowlers blossomed like RP,Sreesanth,Munaf and we played aggressively in tests. As Dravid himself stated, in India you are remembered by your records in WCs as captain and unfortunaltely his record there is bad.
Laaloo Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 I think MS Dhoni should be our Coach' date=' chief selector, Team director and Captain. All in one package.[/quote'] I think he already is and it is not working out
G_B_ Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 Who stays and who doesn't in an IPL team is seriously a long call. They have relieved MJ and so many other players' date=' would you blame Sachin for the same? [/quote'] yes. granted its part of the tactics. Its still technical what you describe. Even good captains make occasional mistakes
Gollum Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 As for Ganguly being a better tactician' date=' look no farther away from his decision in WC finals. The only aspect where he is better than Sachin is leadership and man management qualities.[/quote'] It was a team decision. John wright,Sachin,Dravid all were involved in that stupid call. History of cricket may have been different had they opted to bat 1st. :((
Zelig Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 Can he balance his workload between India and mafia? :hmmm:
