Over-reaction much? Why are people so interested in pronouncing the death of cricket.. first people went on about how ODI is killing test cricket and now the death of 50 over cricket. :laugh:deep-breathing.jpg

t50 is the reason Ireland is rated higher than Afganistan in the minnow world. Shouldn't that keep Donal bhai happy?
Ireland are rated higher than Afghanistan because they're better than them and lost to them once in all competitions in the last 4 years. simple as. And for those wondering no, this isnt the death of ODI's totally, its the death of them as we know them. Now they're just very long t20's.

T20 cricket is fun for a while. You can only get so much entertainment from slogging, boundaries etc. Anything more than 20 overs and a few matches a year is too much.

I don't see what the big deal is honestly. There is always a progression in scoring rates over the years. If you look at decadal scoring rates in ODIs, you will probably see that the scoring rate has gone up with every successive decade. In the 90s, scores of 300+ were as rare as 400+ are nowadays. 300 now is the new 250 and so on. This is the case with every successive decade. What ICC can perhaps do is to encourage bigger grounds and slightly bowler friendly pitches (where there is a little swing and/or spin).
There has to be a limit. In a decade, batsman can't be scoring at 20 an over in ODI. The increase over the past few decades was slow and reasonable. But in the past 5 years there has been a sudden and very large change in the scoring rates which isn't at all healthy for the game. Many rules and conditions need to be reverted to that of several years back.

What I am saying is that Ireland is 'clearly' better than Afganistan because this t50 has negated a vastly superior Afgan attack, so it's working in your case. But overall I do agree, ODIs now are extended version of T20 Cricket.

Nope. In Ireland in 2011 on green mambas we defended 160 easily. Earlier this year again on very bowling tracks in the UAE we beat them once, lost once. Likewise as the helpful batting negates bowling, it also helps crap batsmen do well which benefits them. The better teams should still win under these new rules but its just so much more dull to me

Game is fine. Just do not shorten the boundary. If bats are getting better, ICC should look for manufacturers to make better balls which last longer instead of worrying about silly ideas like allowing tampering. Get rid of stupid power play and come back to initial 15 over restriction like it used to be in 90s.

ICC has already changes the rules .No more batting power play and 5 fielders outside the circle in last 10 Overs .Buy need to be approved by the ICC GC hence the delay . The major factor for the 400 scores is the BP (35-40) and just 4 fielders for last 10 Overs .So This will reduce to a large extent the late onslaught which often produce these 400 scores which makes a mockery of ODI cricket

RIP :(( Taylor scored a century at an SR of 120 odd and then this England side (who couldn't qualify for the quarterfinals of the World Cup) is about to chase it down. "Five of England's seven fastest ODI hundreds have come in the last two years, two of them in the last three days, by three different batsmen." Could have been one more today with Morgan as well. This is ridiculous.

They need to scrap this two new balls theory, spinners are not at all getting any say in these odis and it is has become a bore fest. why the heck they need batting power play that needs to go also, it has become comical.

where were the asian countries when they proposed this? i knew the moment it was announced that it be big trouble for the spinners but they all went along with it.

The stupid 2 ball rule was definitely brought upon by England and Australia as they never have good spinners and are the worst players of spin, Srinivasan went along as all he cared for was money and didn't think that the greatest advantages of India and other subcontinental teams(spin and reverse swing) was killed by these rules. Only Big-3 are enough to change rules, others don't matter. India gained money by Big-3 but lost a lot of political power as Asian Block vs Aus,Eng.

its called EVOLUTION. Happens in life, happens in the wild, happens in the tech world and it also happens in ALL SPORTS. If you can't adapt, pack it up and go home (extinction).

In my view it was created by idiots in ICC who tried to reinvent the wheel and make the 2015 world cup different from last world cup to show the world how fair their world cup is and their pitches are so sportive rathen flat dead subcontinent pitches. It turned out to be totally useless. When was last time any asian country got anything from ICC, It is still owned by two main countries and they are with BCCI just as neccessary evil. BCCI is more concerned on finanical aspect rather than doing anything good for the game.

I am done with ODIs fellas. Sad to see the best format out of the 3 be reduced to a joke thanks to a few greedy, good for nothing bunch of incompetent fools who sadly run our game.
