Agarkar is the only one with Spine to question Dhoni's place in team

Finally someone from the Indian cricket fraternity grows a spine and calls out Dhoni and his bad form and questions not only his captaincy but his place in the team too, well done Agarkar !! Here are some good points from the article:

Former India fast bowler Ajit Agarkar has called for the selectors to scrutinise MS Dhoni's role in the Indian team, and not merely as captain. Agarkar felt the selectors should look at Virat Kohli's performance as the Test captain by comparison, and make a call on Dhoni's role in the limited-overs format after the ongoing South Africa series.

"He has been a great player for India, but you don't want him to become a liability for the team. And he needs to perform a lot better than he has [been]. Just because he has done it over the years, doesn't mean it's okay for him to fail. Agarkar was also highly critical of Dhoni's decision to bat at No.4 in the one-day format, insisting that such a move would be "unfair" on somebody like Ajinkya Rahane and "would not work for the team."

" Dhoni seems to have lost that ability of going out there and smashing it from ball one. He obviously takes his time. But he batted up the order in Bangladesh, and India still lost the series. All his career when people wanted him to bat up because he is so good and has that destructive ability, he has always maintained that he wants and needs to bat at No.6, where he can handle the pressure. "It's a hard job batting at 5, 6 and 7. I've seen Yuvraj and MS himself do it for so long, but that doesn't mean that it changes at this stage in his career. You've got to have guys who are good at certain numbers. And at the moment MS by promoting himself, is getting a Rahane or anyone else who bats there, into trouble. I would still have Raina and Dhoni at 5 and 6, so contrary to what a lot of people have said, I don't think Dhoni should be batting at four at this stage in his career."

Dhoni has no power game left in him. Continuing with him at 5 or 6 is not a good suggestion.

Agarkar's first suggestion is clearly that Dhoni is a liability and should be kicked out of the team, if he and selectors don't do it then Agarkar wants him to bat lower so that future of other young players is not spoiled and Dhoni will be kicked out quicker this way with no place to hide. That is the only good suggestion anyone can give at the moment, Sanju Samson should be Dhoni's replacement for T20 World Cup.

Credit to Agarkar for being unafraid to criticize, but don't agree with him in entirety.  Dhoni arguably is a liability in T20, but at 80% ability he is still an ATG bat in ODIs.  It actually makes sense to him keep around a season or 2 at #4 while we groom a replacement for him.  Its not as if he's keeping out an international ready talent at 'keeper-batsman anyway.

Obviously everyone is criticizing Dhoni here which is expected. But I want to ask a question. What is the reason Dhoni lost his big hitting capability? I mean a destructive Dhoni is an asset...no one can deny that. And he is only 34. He was good till 2014 IPL. What happened to him suddenly that he lost his form and not able to regain? Rather asking him to just leave and join the babdwagon of Dhoni hate, we need to decipher the reason of his decline. And is there any chance in future of him coming back to beastly form like Sachin did in hay days of his career.

It is freaking obvious he has been a liability in the T20 format.  Atleast someone is calling it out. He himself has realized that he has been a burden to the side. His style of game is suitable for 50 over game where he can take all the time in the world and explode. As he himself admitted he often settles for lower total by preserving his wicket. It is better he makes way for someone else. Based on his ODI exploits, team expects a lot from him. But time and again he failed to deliver.

He has done zilch and I mean zilch in T20s apart from 2007 World Cup. I dont give a crap what he does in IPL. He was done 3 years ago. Should be kicked out ASAP.

Dhoni is not same, first ODI , from 160 for 1, india can easily reach 218 if dhoni clicks bat at # 6 or 7.

he blame patel for 6 bad ball, not fair.even in the 2nd game he was out timidly.our next at Kanpur, were india

78 all out vs Lanka sometimes ago, I want to see how dhoni make it with the bat.

age and workload are the main reason for Dhoni's poor hitting  nowadays.10 years of non stop cricket takes its toll and has an adverse effect on the individual,he can't hit length deliveries nowadays at the death which he used to send outside the ground at his prime, his hitting prowess is finished.Dhoni can still contribute in the one day game as he is a good accumulator nowadays but he should step down from t20s with immediate affect.
