BCCI wants to Host Pakistan series in India

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) can keep its hopes of a bilateral series with India alive as the BCCI is expected to seek Government of India's approval to host the neighbours in December for a limited-overs tour, The Indian Express has reported.

According to the newspaper, the BCCI, which after its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Monday confirmed the Pakistan series may still happen, will ask the Centre for permission to host Pakistan for five ODIs and two T20 internationals in December.

 

The two boards have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to play eight bilateral series between 2015 and 2023.

At the board's AGM on Monday, president Shashank Manohar confirmed that BCCI will be speaking to the government on the series that faces opposition on political grounds.

“To play against Pakistan, we need to get the government’s permission. So we need to speak to the government and whatever decision the government takes, the BCCI will decide accordingly,” Manohar had said.

The Indian Express has also reported that talks between BCCI and the government have already begun, and will continue post Diwali through BCCI secretary, Anurag Thakur.

 

A top BCCI official told the news daily that the board is even willing to cut down the tour to three ODIS and two T20Is if the government permits.

“We want cricketing ties to happen, we don’t want politics to hamper cricket. We will be going with a few proposals. One, where we can have five ODIs and two T20s. In the second proposal, we can have three ODIs and two T20s. All these games will be played in those parts of the country where we feel there will be no disturbance from political parties,” the official was quoted as saying.

 

India's last Test of the ongoing home series against South Africa is scheduled to end December 7 and the first match on the Australia tour follows on Jan 12. That leaves little time for the BCCI to host Pakistan, but the board wants to make all the effort it can to play Pakistan.

Pakistan last toured India in 2012-13.

So BCCI doesnt want to go to UAE but host Pakistan in India and share revenue.This is utter stupidity.Dont agree with this at all.With PCB threatening to boycott world T20 if India doesnt play i wonder if this will come across as BCCI bowing down to PCB.

I think BCCI is handling it just fine.  Its clear that they will not give Pakistan a hosted series either in "pure" land or "Ay-raab" land without government clearance - which is not going to come through in time.  So if PCB is desperate enough to play in India, fine.  If not, better luck next time.  Why should BCCI bend over backwards for Pakistan cricket?  

From a fan's perspective, there are those who don't want cricket against Pakistan in order to send a message.  To be honest, I could care less about that aspect .   I do support the inadvertent outcome of financial loss to PCB due to lack of India series.  Why should we subsidize their PCB Babus and their cricket when other branches of their government are busy murdering Indians.

The govt clearance is about whether to play Pakistan or not .Not about where to play them .We obviously won't play in Pakistan due to security concerns obviously which is different issue completely

Please don't say govt will have no issue playing Pakistan in India but not in UAE .

Why the heck should BCCI even need govt clearance to play in "Ay-raab" land ? The same place we were happy to play IPL.

This is what BCCI secretary said recently

"Dawood in Karachi. NSA wants to meet separatists here. Are you really serious about peace and you expect we'll play cricket with you?" Thakur said in a twitter message.

So BCCI and govt don't care about separatists , Dawood and Mumbai victims as long as Pakistan is happy to play in India and help us make money ?

To put it mildly it is very distasteful of BCCI to use Mumbai attacks and terrorism to make more money from a cricket series

frankly speaking,I Dont care about this series but if they are to play ,it should be in uae because we already played the home leg in 2007 and won the series.bcci are too money minded and can't see beyond stupendous profits.almost every country has played in the uae ,if you cant agree to play in the uae then don't fecking play them anywhere (dead serious)

BCCI will never play in UAE due to issues with Ten Sports. I think the Govt issue is an excuse or secondary. If BCCI was serious about not playing against Pakistan they would have not called them in 2012, play in Asia Cup etc. Broadcasting rights is the main issue.

Good idea koz vs southafrica, last test on dec. 7th, .After that, india , has to play first ODI in Australia on January 12.so plenty for 5 plus 2 or 3 plus 2 in-between.ODI plus T20I.

bcci wants all games on peaceful zone = away from political battle fields, may be in chatisghad.. They waiting from Green light from indian Government.
