What Dhoni can learn from McCullum

Infact India did much better than NZ given the resources . Kiwis played one match outside home and they lost it , we made it to semis when no one gave us a chance .

But we only played Australia in one game and lost that badly.

If Dhoni wants to reflect , he can compare his leadership skills till 2011 and now.

Till that time he had the ability to motivate even ordinary player like Joginder Sharma and bring out the best in them. He could make an ordinary bunch perform to the best of their potential or even beyond it. he wanted to win at all costs and vewry often did.

Now...he does not motivate his team, looks tired, disinterested  and detached from most of his team-mates, constantly gives the impression of favouritism towards a few, criticizes some players in public instead of talking to them in private, ....has lost the will to win and just talks about the process, changes bowlers just after they have taken a wicket...

I think Dhoni should be able to spot this massive difference if he really introspects

8 years is a loooong time to bear the stresses of captaincy across all formats.

Kohli is looking fresh and enthusiastic now, wants to win at all costs and is able to motivate even ordinary fast bowlers to perform.  Give him a chance to captain across formats before he too becomes stale and tired....which is inevitable after a few good years.

Dhoni is a stubborn , egomaniac , if he had to learn he would in first two years as captain, he just knows to play one way , n even if it is not the right way in that conditions he doesn't care, he is 34 I believe by the time he is finally gone he will be hated as mush as R Shastri who has lost us quite a few games n Dhoni has too lol look at last three years

All the 4 Kiwi bowlers Boult,Southee,Milne,Vettori were superior and Corey Anderson is much better than any Indian pacer in those conditions. He is a leftie, gets good bounce and bowls fast too.But still B-mac's field placings were just too good.He himself was batting like a DemiGod scoring 50s at more than 200 SR when both sides got out under 150.They did have a 6th bowler in Kane Williamson, who is a good off spinner. So,they were brilliant players combined with brilliant captaincy took them to finals.

Dhoni's mistakes are just too many.He doesn't encourage newbies and lacks aggression in batting, bowling changes and his field placements and keeps crying that we don't have players.I don't think we would do worse even if we changed our main team with the A team.

Always regard Aakash's opinions highly. Very good article.

Dhoni at the moment is not showing enough confidence in his bowling unit. He has to change it if he wants some good results to come his way from the bowlers.
