Ankit_sharma03 Posted August 24, 2016 Posted August 24, 2016 Australia captain Steven Smith will miss the remainder of the tour of Sri Lanka - three ODIs and two T20Is - as he returns home to rest ahead of the tour of South Africa. David Warner will lead the side in the rest of the fixtures in Sri Lanka. "I hate missing cricket, but in the long run it will do me a world of good," Smith was quoted as saying by Cricket Australia on Twitter. "The schedule is very busy. I still want to take on the role in all three formats and do it to the best of my ability." They got brilliant team of fast bowlers as home. This is just pathetic running away in between series probably he knows they ll lose if SL kept producing those turners even in ODIs. Warner is defo a better captain but himself a FTB when it comes to bat. he has just become a captain and you are saying he was never good as a captain.
express bowling Posted August 25, 2016 Posted August 25, 2016 Escapist attitude by Smith. Leaving, with his team in trouble, he may lose the respect of his team members. Ankit_sharma03 and sscomp32 2
nevada Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 For the Aussies, only roads at home are worth playing on. Any swing or spin makes them sick and prone to collapse. Now Smith has had it and is running back home to not rest but prepare for another series! The least the Aussies could do is shut up and not spout all kinds of non sense when other teams tour their country. For ones who are so arrogant towards tourist teams, their away record is utterly pathetic and this mid series exit is even more pathetic. Why bother playing away tours at all? Just send a second X1 for overseas tours and let the bratty, chirpy, pampered super stars play only at home and embellish their records. sscomp32 1
Tibarn Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 Bad look, especially against a usually top 4 ODI side like Lanka. If you don't want to respect away tours and opposition enough to play, then give up your captaincy to someone who is willing to play all series, like Warner or Finch. I don't think he has played very much cricket recently either, and he took off from the IPL early as well. Then again, the Aussies are such a great ODI side that they might not miss him... rkt.india Posted August 27, 2016 Posted August 27, 2016 also, i fail to understand the preparation needed to play on those roads in Australia. sscomp32 1
