Is there any scope for debate if a batsman ( Rohit ) has problems regarding test temperament... displays inability to play seam , swing and good quality spin.....does not want to learn from his mistakes.... gets  out to rash shots with his team in trouble...averages 23 with SR of only 47 in the last 16 test matches  ??

WTF?? He already played 16 TESTS? :wall:

Batting R B 4 6
JG Bista caught wk 0 3 0 0
KR Pawar retired out 100 228 15 1
Armaan Jaffer caught 69 123 9 1
RG Sharma stumped 18 40 1 1
SA Yadav caught 103 86 9 8
AP Tare not out 53 76 7 0
SD Lad not out 86 62 7 7

Bista got out to new ball to Boult. After that the individual scores itself tell the story :agree:

Surya Yadav has scored 103 at a SR of 119 against an international test  side in a 3 day match.   If the team management is looking for a fast scoring lower-middle order batter then why not Surya in place of Rohit  ?   How can he be any worse  ?

He has a FC average of 46  and SR  of 67 and has improved a lot in the last season.

Wow. If Virat plays him again he is either the biggest fool ever or rohit has some deep dark secrets of kohli. No other reason for him to play.

Neither of the two...Rohit has the backing of influential people who are not cricketers.  This is the business side of cricket we are seeing here.

Even Patil and others are speaking out for Rohit for no apparent reason.

"One legbreak got rid of Jaffer for 69, after which Rohit played an edgy innings. It just seemed anything could happen every time Rohit faced up. One of those things was a clean six over mid-off after eight straight dots, but he never looked in. On 18 he looked to charge Sodhi, who dragged his length back, drawing an uncertain defensive shot. In the same over Rohit repeated the charge without bothering about defending when beaten in the flight. An easy stumping for BJ Watling ensued."

Maybe Rohit doesn't want to play test cricket but the selectors and the team management are forcing him to play tests :giggle:

This guy is a case study in the role of mental block hindering a batsman from playing to his full potential.

He does have technical deficiencies but I don't believe he's so bad to average in low 30s. Could easily be a 40-45 averaging player. His own personal disposition, ticks etc don't do him any favor. Unlike Kohli, who channels his grumpiness to focus, this guy gets flustered and distracted instead.

Rohit technique is actually better than dhawan and manesh pandey. But he always plays a rash shot after getting set.

He is a prime example of a person taking n wanting things easy in his life. Dhoni virat n selectors have all added to it by giving him so many chances repeatedly. Whats the need to improve when ur getting chances for easy over performing players. He gets a chance to thrive in easy conditions in Odi and is content with that. Unfortunately our team management is getting all wrong signs from those ODi innings.

Looks like  that statement has an element of truth to  it.

Rohit Sharma may want to play tests consciously but it looks like he dislikes it deep down.

There seems to be  a conscious effort going on to create multi-format stars to increase the popularity of cricket  ( like Tendulkar , Ganguly, Dravid, Kumble, Srinath, Sehwag, Zaheer ).  After Dhoni's retirement, we have only Kohli and Ashwin nowadays.  Rohit in test matches and Rahane in T20s  look like forced attempts to create multi-format stars.

Thankfully....KL Rahul  and Shami  maybe  non-forced answers.

Read in the newspaper today that India called Aniket Choudhary and Sangwan to bowl at the Indian batsman in the nets to counter NZ's left arm bowlers Boult and Wagner. Don't know why Aniket was not selected for India A or Duleep Trophy.

Very good news.  If Kohli and Kumble are impressed with them then their progress will be monitored from now and they will be under the team management's radar.

It would have been nice if  Nathu Singh, Kuldeep Yadav, Gopal , Rajpoot and Karn Sharma were called up too.

The presence of seamers Pradeep Sangwan and Aniket Chaudhary and chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav at the nets on Monday gave an insight into how India are planning for Kiwi fast bowlers Neil Wagner and Trent Boult.

Chaudhary and Sangwan bowled uninterrupted to almost all the India batsmen during the training sessions in the morning and later on. Fresh from his success at the Duleep Trophy, Yadav troubled all with his spin variations, and ,barring Kohli, no one could get him away.

Kumble is bringing in a lot of positives ideas to this team, this can be very good opp for all 3 to impress Indian team management.
