Sooda Posted October 15, 2016 Posted October 15, 2016 I would yes. On paper it means we have a longish tail but from all accounts he's a good batsman, let's give him an extended run. We need 5 bowlers (full strength -Shami, Bhuvi, Bumrah, Ashwin, Jadeja) and Hardik to chip in with 4 - 6 overs of one or two of the front line men have a bad day. There are no good enough part timers and I would not want Raina to play to be honest. tweaker and Ankit_sharma03 2
tweaker Posted October 16, 2016 Posted October 16, 2016 Pandya handed odi cap by Kapil Dev Good gesture by Kumble express bowling 1
tweaker Posted October 16, 2016 Posted October 16, 2016 Pandya takes a wicket in his first over in his debut odi
tweaker Posted October 16, 2016 Posted October 16, 2016 Pandya has bowled well in his 1st odi. He has bowled with good pace & has mostly bowled outswingers . express bowling and velu 2
tweaker Posted October 16, 2016 Posted October 16, 2016 Pandya should be used as pinch hitter in next 2 odi. velu 1
Texan Posted October 16, 2016 Posted October 16, 2016 Good thing about Pandya is that unlike most of our other pacers, he looks at extracting extra bounce from the wicket. He bowled a tight line after the first couple of overs and his pace was really good. Hope he can keep this pace. I can see him being handy even in away Tests. tweaker 1
Tibarn Posted October 16, 2016 Posted October 16, 2016 Hopefully he gets some batting exposure. His bowling looked terrific today. Potential match-winner tweaker 1
maniac Posted October 16, 2016 Posted October 16, 2016 Good to know now finally that he is a bowler who can bat i wasnt sure till this game...good bowling. lets all stick to this consensus because within a week we don't want to be hearing he is a batsman who has potential with the ball hope he gets a shot to show his batting skills too. tweaker 1

He had potential with the ball- he has pace, lil bit of movement , hits the deck hard and gets bounce also is deceptively quick Now all he needs was control. As i emphasized a lot since last yr he needs to bowl a lot of overs to gain control and diff was evident in his rhythm and control after bowling a lot of overs in Aus-A and 1st ranji game. Sandeep patil n co missed a golden opp of sending him to Zimb where he would have gotten to bowl aroun 30-40 overs more in helpful condition. Also bat to. He has done well, even though one perfomance never convinces me, but the more he bowl the more he gets wkts he ll keep becoming better . Challenge would arise when teams will come up with a plan against him and then whats his plan b. During this time he needs to work on some variation as well. But great progress till now. He would bowl in all these Odi then domestic then against ENg series and domestic so he wont be short of match practice . Credit to dhoni for backing him and giving him new ball, coz his best chance is new ball in these conditions. Same would be the case with batting, he needs with innings under his belt Gr8 thing is he is an asset in every way , batting bowling and fielding unlike jadhav so he kind of secures his place everywhere and gets a chance to contribute in every way.
