Not at all .

I would drop Dhawan . But he looked ok . Better then vijay frankly . But saha looked Hopeless. Honestly looked like club cricketer playing international cricket

did you watch match ? Otherwise you would not say this imo . Or letting personal hate cloud judgements

in the second innings Saha definitely did not look hopeless. He was playing very assuredly along with Ashwin and also played some positive shots. He got out to a delivery very similar to the one Kohli got

Dhawan has a genuine short ball problem which will definitely get exploited on any pitch. He will keep looking ok but falling to a short ball

True but his keeping is much better now.

Doesn't say much, because it was **really** terrible to start with. My skills in math have improved tremendously since I was 5 years old, but here I am with no Fields medal in sight ;)

The two boundaries he hit were indeed classy, and he was playing a lot more positively than in the first. And the LBW dismissal was also borderline. Had the umpire given Saha the benefit of the doubt, it would not have been overturned on review either.

There is no Field medal equivalent in cricket. Getting a Field Medal is a genetic trait that not many people will have. What I was trying to say was that he is equivalent to Saha. heck I have been complaing about giving Karthick an opportunity. As far as Saha is concerned he has hit his peak.

Ok, replace Fields medal with tenure track position and the statement still holds (or in fact makes more sense) ;)

I can guarantee @King TendulkarTTendulkarT did not see the second innings at all

I can assure you I did

ps thanks for putting troll thing on my posts merely cos I gave crixket opinion. I have been massive fan of saha

but low scoring games like these runs are premium . He won’t score runs simple . Sorry patel in , standing back patel can catch . But like de kock standing up is hopeless

@Khota  whenever you ask for a player you get it.. You did it with DK before and now I read it on Twitter..there is a possibility of Patel playing ahead of Saha :adore: Brillant if you can pull it off..

I am happy for Parthiv if true. If you read my posts I am not a fan of any player but only their performance. If parthiv does not do well kick him out.

@Rasgulla you have been very low profile. I miss your posts.

How old is Saha? in his 30s? We need to look for a young good wicket keeper batsman, someone who's as good as Saha if not better and a decent bat. Parthiv is horrendous, he brings back bad memories, also he's not getting any younger(though he still looks like a kid). Keep Saha for few more tours and keep looking for fresh talent.... no point brinhing old hacks like Parthiv, DK, etc.

Btw what happened to Naman Ojha?

Saha is in his 30s but has very little mileage on his body due to his late start. He is still good for 5 years which lets us develop Pant and Kishan well.

1.  Saha is a gutsy batter, although he does not give that impression.  Scored 54* and 58 * in a low scoring test on a green track against NZ at Kolkata 2016.   Scored 104 at Gros Islet 2016, in another low scoring match when the ball was moving and team was 5 for 126.  He can playing when ball is moving.

Agreed he did ,  but this SA attack in SA condition . Does he give confidence against this attack.....IMO opinion not

2. Parthiv has a weak off-stump game.  Keeps poking outside off when pacers are bowling.  Does not look confident against the moving ball.

Every does have some weakness, IMO parthiv n DK are better batsman then Saha and yes Saha is miles ahead as keeper.

3. I don't see any good test-quality keeper at the moment who looks like he can bat like a top-6 batter  in test matches outside Asia.

Yes and if we have to do well overseas with 5 bowlers, we need batting as well from keeper

Saha doesnt give me confidence against SA n AUS pacer in their backyard, Might do well against NZ or eng

Some of us do have very short term memory like our captain. In the Mohali and Chennai test against Eng when Parthiv made his comeback as keeper, this is what happened:

Mohali:

46.4 Ashwin to Bairstow, no run, a loose drive and was that an edge? Certainly a stumping chance, but Bairstow slides his toe back as Parthiv fumbles. Snicko confirms a thin edge in that missed chance from Parthiv

83.3 J Yadav to Bairstow, no run, is it dropped?. Patel again. This is an offbreak that doesn't turn. Bairstow defends for the turn, but it goes with the angle and takes the edge. Kisses Patel's glove and hits him on the thigh

Bairstow went on to score 89

Chennai:
7.5 Ashwin to Cook, no run, edged and dropped! Parthiv can't hold the chance. Cook pushed forward at an offbreak that pitched on middle, the dip made the ball pitch well in front of the bat and the turn away from the left-hander took the outside edge. Parthiv moved to his left but the ball brushed the gloves and fell in front of slip. Had Parthiv not moved his hands to his left, that ball would have gone straight to Kohli at slip

Cook went on to score 49

Not just missed chances, generally his keeping was quite shoddy with many byes and stuff if you had seen the matches. Thank god those matches were in India so the opposition couldn't run away with the match. But Dhawan's single drop in 1st innings ensured SA getting to 280 and not 220 or so, which was the difference in the game.

Sorry, Parthiv is not a reliable keeper. If you wanna play Parthiv play him as a specialist bat, he will definitely score more than Dhawan and Rohit as he is a good player against pacers.

On current comeback, add this:

50.2  I Sharma to Amla, 1 run, is that a drop from Parthiv? Seems like it. A diving chance down leg. Length ball on leg stump, looks to flick and gets a thin edge. Parthiv isn't in position to catch that. It's a stop in the end with a last ditch dive
