Aus 4 Test match tour of India: How do you think our batters will do against Nathan Lyon and Adam Zampa on similar pitches ?

I have a feeling that Adam Zampa will debut as the second spinner along with Nathan Lyon.

Seeing how our middle order has performed against Englands sub par spin bowling attack, should we prepare similar pitches against Aus or rank turners like against South Africa ?

Lyon is not of same calibre as say a Warne or even Swann n Zampa is a newbie, Rashid n Moeen have not bowled that bad, infact Rashid has been impressive, way better then Mishra, more the merrier, Lyon Zampa will give relief to our batters.

Australia looks like a weak team except Warner n Smith who I think can score runs in India, bowling is average ,except for Starc .

Wickets should always be sporting n not dust bowls like the current series which is decent, Eng are a better all round side then Aussies n I don't see them as a threat at all only thing Smith cannot be worse then Cook who is his team's worst enemy

Most of our boys have seen Lyon before during the Aussie's last tour of India and even our tour there. Unless he has drastically improved, he shouldn't be a surprise.

Zampa is a good young leggie, but I haven't watched him in any test matches, only LOIs. Vijay apparently struggles vs leggies, but I'm not sure about if our other batsmen.

The problem the Aussies might have is that they are far less competent batsmen than the English on our pitches. We may prepare rank turners for them and, if their batsmen can't get runs, their spinners won't be able to save them IMO. Last time it was Clarke and Smith who batted well, but Clarke is retired and, aside from Smith, who else looks threatening?

We have to be more concerned about Starc than their spinners. He looked like he was reversing the ball well in Lanka, so he could be dangerous here.

Actually I want Rashid and Moeen Ali to take wickets. So Aus will get influenced play both Zampa and Lyon thinking that they need to play 2 spinners on Indias tracks.

I actually fear Aus pacers led by Mitchell Starc more than Anderson and Co.

i think we should prepare similar pitches that we prepared for South Africa.

Warner is in red hot form and he can easily hold forte for Aus in 2 tests if we have pitches like Rajkot and Vizag

Rashid is better than Lyon on Indian tracks - Lyon, even in SL and Ind has proven to be a so-so leader of the spin attack. Zampa is a very good ODI and T20 bowler, but is still pretty raw in terms of longer formats. I'd rate Rashid + Ali is approx equal to Lyon + Zampa. Hence, similar tracks as Eng series can be utilized.

People are underestimating Lyon and Zampa. They will be better than Moeen and Rashid. People forgot Lyon took 7-fer at Delhi last time. Zampa has better control than Rashid and more variety. He will be a serious threat, IMO.

I fear a pace battery of Starc, Patterson, Hazelwood and Cummins on pitches in Pune and particularly Dharmasala.

I would rather us face Zampa and Lyon who might take a wicket or 2 every innings, but they will leak plenty of runs.

I would want Aus to play 2 spinners.

What about their batting? I don't think it's on the same level as Eng. Smith is the only one that stands out comprehensively for me,

Warner can smoke it on these pitches if they dont turn.

And what if it turns... massively? Give those SA pitches to Warner, and he may run screaming (didn't do well in SL on fairly harmless pitches).

Think we should beat Aus easily. Eng was our toughest opponent. Aus got thrashed by Sri Lanka recently

Also had lots of injuries, players out of form, etc. When all grooves click, should be easy to beat them.

Lyon is far better than moen and Rashid bhai, zampa is a quick learner and might enjoy rank turners.

Honestly speaking Indian batsmen should counter them with relative ease

aus should go with starc hazle lyon zampa maxwell - best possible attack
mitch marsh will be useless

but everything will depend on warner smith

Warner is ordinary on big turning pitches, unlike Smith who is a genuine all-pitch player.

true but he will have to do better
shaun marsh could be other one if they play him
khwaja has shown very poor technique against spin so far
cant expect much from other 3 debutants
