Yes Matt Renshaw 

I saw part of his batting against south Africa and thought here goes another dogged cricketer in the Jeet Raval or Hasseeb Hameed mode who will play gritty innings but won't be a superstar but this kid Renshaw will go place trust me.

 

Revisit this thread in a year and check he will break in to the top 10 ranking OPEN CHALLENGE!!!

 

This is not a random call...saw him yesterday and the kid is evolving with scary pace and he will reach scary heights...the way he was defending the tough bowling but encashing on lose deliveries was really impressive and cricketing bliss.

 

I have become a fan and watch out for him when they tour India...out of the world footwork the way he was playing against Yasir Shah.

 

This kid is a gem.

 

yeah it is easy to jump on the handscomb bandwagon but Renshaw is the one.

 

Remeber this thread as this will be bumped to gloat gloat and more gloat.

As for Renshaw , his stance is the weirdest I can remember since Chanderpaul .

Looks a gritty batsman in the mould Rogers .Looks similarly very limited as a player .

Not sure he will survive Ashwin though.Could end up another Duckett after India tour

Renshaw is what biologists call an atavism. In simple terms, an evolutionary throwback. He would recall little of life before Twenty20 - he was born in 1996 while T20 began in 2003 - yet idolises Alastair Cook and places on his wicket a price, almost as high as Bill Lawry did. He was at the inaugural T20 international in 2005 as a spectator, yet has never played elite T20 himself.

 

Renshaw is remarkable for a 20-year-old in that he doesn't have a Big Bash League deal and doesn't care. Until he was called into Australia's Test side, he expected December-January to be his golf season. Instead he ended up on the world stage proving his long-form credentials. In Adelaide, Renshaw scored slowly, but steered Australia to victory. Here, he showed he can change gears.

 

Against the new ball, Renshaw was happy to leave anything outside off stump, and waited for his scoring opportunities to come when the bowlers went too straight: nearly two-thirds of his runs came through the leg side. And yet he was willing to use his feet and drive the spinners down the ground, in the air, reckoning it a safe scoring opportunity if executed well.

 

His final tally was 71 from 125 balls, including nine boundaries. It was as if Renshaw had evolved in the fortnight between Adelaide and Brisbane. It should not be forgotten that this was just his 15th first-class match. He is still learning, but has an outstanding base from which to work. His development will be fascinating to watch.

I have noticed one thing ..he comes on the front foot with the initial shuffle movement ..He will be in trouble in swinging condition for the ball pitched on middleor lefg stump and leaving him ..similar for the spinner ..Aswin's template for Duckett dismissal apply here ..unless he makes adjustment

He has stone cold temperament.....he is not all block or all hack kind of a player....what impressed about him was he negotiated an initial probing spell from Amir,had great judgement of his off stump and then when Yasir Shah was bowling a defensive line,didn't hesitate to attack either....he will go places....better comparison would be with Steve SMith himself

he must be good but is he really that good to make to your tailunt list? By the time he got out it seems ahab was all over him. Everyball he bowled was pacier then previous one.

Renshaw is only halfway forward. He has a waft at it and nicks it behind to the keeper. To his credit, Renshaw did not throw his hands at the line. Just enough movement to graze the outside edge. He had been very sure of his off stump until this ball. Ironic, he falls edging behind in the channel

On that pitch ball was doing something in lights.....he took to that tough pitch like fish to water...just that Wahab produced a rare good spell on a helpful track.

 

He is the next Steve Smith...wait and watch

Don't know if you remember this guy but he reminds me of the former West Indies player of the late 90s - Clayton Lambert. He had an extrmely weird style to bat. More Weird than even Chanderpaul. He later went on to play for USA. He could hit the ball well and was a destructive player.

He's from Yorkshire, emigrated to NZ then Aus at a young age. His dad was friends with Root's and they played on the outfield at Sheffield Collegiate CC as young kids.
