It has to be kohli. he saved the first test. Got us a good lead in the 2nd test. And got a big daddy double hundred in the 3rd test.

It would have been Ashwin if he had taken any wickets in this test. We won two tests Mohali and this one with out major contribution from Ashwin.

Moeen for England.  VK for India.  Ash's wicket haul (or lack of it) in this game probably made it easy to go in Kohli's favor for the award - but really VK should get credit - his mental strength and stomach for a fight really set the tone in this series.  Yes, we won 4-0 with 2 innings victories, but England actually competed quite hard and made us earn every win.  And VK was there for a more than one crucial turning points, where if not for him, things would have gone a lot differently.  

 

This is not to minimize Ash - he is without a doubt the top spinner in the world right now.  I don't give a crap about his away numbers.  No bowler, pace or spin, bowls that well in unfavorable conditions with a different ball.  Ashwin's complete mastery over his own game - from his variations in release, pace, seam position, turn, bounce, AND line and length.  Add to that his cricket brain, and ability to analyse batsmen and work them out.  He is setting a very high bar as a bowler right now.  Its one of the few times where watching a bowler is equally engrossing as watching a top bat score a quality daddy 100.   For cricket fans, watching Ash go work is a treat.  May he stay fit and keep learning and working on his game.  

 

Ali has done really well for England, for the type of player he is.  He is a part-time spinner - 5th bowler type.  England are disappointed with him because he couldn't perform as a front-line spinner - something he simply isn't.  Given the lack of spin options for England cricket, he should be immune from any criticism, but he won't because the English are well, English.  

 

Root, Bairstow and Stokes have had good tours with the bat.  None of them did their reputation any harm on this tour - Bairstow as keeper was supposed to be quite crap behind the stumps, but he was good enough in foreign conditions, better than Pappu, for sure.
