Laaloo Posted January 30, 2017 Posted January 30, 2017 You know what? Drop pandya and play the trundler because he has 'special skills'. Then you can moan and whine why we haven't developed an all rounder in decades. MCcricket and tweaker 2
BeautifulGame Posted January 30, 2017 Posted January 30, 2017 Some of these people are so fickle. This guy is the closest thing to a fast bowling all rounder we have had since Kapil Dev. If we can give hacks like Jadeja umpteen chances, then Pandya deserves them too. He has kept improving each time. His bowling has improved. His fielding was always good. And his batting has improved too. Much faster than Jadeja ever did. These dhoni chamchas I tell you. Dhoni never supported his fast bowlers and so his chamchas will come here and demean them any chance they can get. Your obsession with Dhoni fans is getting ridiculous now. Why the need to refer to Dhoni fans in every thread .This is just pathetic. Seriously how hard is for you to debate a topic without turning everything about Dhoni fans ? Cricketics and Sidhoni 2
BCCI Posted January 30, 2017 Posted January 30, 2017 (edited) His batting stance itself is so unconvincing that you do not need to go any further,This guy at the moment is an inferior version of Yusuf Pathan vis a vis batting, equally murderous against the spinners. If continues to be selected he should be used to just hit spinners out of the park in middle overs.Obviously opposition will change their plan accordingly after some time if he is successful but this can only be his utility at the moment.Do not use him as a finisher, there are no finisher in T20s,you hit from 1st ball till the 120th.Someone needs to tell that to Dhoni as well, who was used as a finisher yesterday as well Edited January 30, 2017 by BCCI
Unleashed Posted January 30, 2017 Posted January 30, 2017 Is this thread serious? One talented pace bowling allrounder after ages, and people want to drop him because of the fact that Kohli didn't bowl him(clearly due to the pitch being slow). Honestly, Indian fans are the ficklest bunch in the whole world. Joke. express bowling and Laaloo 2

MCcricket Posted January 30, 2017 Posted January 30, 2017 If people don't realize the importance of his all-round skills, potential and don't see the quick hands n hand eye coordination then m sorry you guys r not good readers of talent , same way OP wanted a mediocre ,useless, 125 k Trundler Chawal Kholkurni, and was hyping him big time. He is not batting with freedom and did get a 50 also he is smart and picked up his game pretty fast and improved, his bowling is an asset and batting wise he is trying a medium risk approach and trying to take responsibility at 6, both brothers are talented. He is the next gen India cricketer, athletic, fast, fields well and fast learner, he will win us games in the future, any ways his bowling is better then Chawal at this point, so his batting is a bonus. express bowling 1

maniac Posted January 30, 2017 Posted January 30, 2017 The problem is with Pandya-he was given a run without improving on any 1 skill set. Let us take examples of our all-rounders in recent times. Ashwin-Strike bowler and can bat....His failures/success with the ball is what will decide his future...even if he average 45+ in the next few series with the bat,if he fails with the ball he is replaceable. Jadeja-has surprisingly become one of the top level spinners in the world,so even though his batting doesn't look international standard, the very fact that he got his run as an all-rounder,still putting him in the all rounder category-can make the team as a bowler alone.....Now if Jadeja cannot deliver with the ball again he is easily replaceable given that we have some young spinners coming through the ranks...batting is already a bonus Irfan Pathan-Was our main bowler for a couple of years......showed good technique with the bat and a clean striker of the ball.....He could have easily been the power hitter and even when he was dropped IIRC.... did play some cameos in the lower order but his bowling regressed to a point where he was totally useless Jayant Yadav-Has tremendous technique and temperament with the bat...bowling so far has been decent and serviceable....if he doesn't deliver with the ball going forward,he will easily be replaced Binny-Is he good enough to bat in the top5 as a bat? No....is his bowling world class-No-verdict rightfully out of the team. Now coming to Pandya-People called him a better bowler than Ben Stokes...let us agree on that for a moment....so ask your self this is Stokes the cricketer easily dispensable to the English side, given that he can bowl (may be a little less better than Pandya)but has been delivering more often than not solely as a batsman?...Now is Pandya the bowler, really that indispensable compared to Stokes the batsman? Can he be trusted to bat in the Top 5,in ODI leave alone test cricket? I know where fans are coming from,we have found a bowler who can bowl at 140+ which itself is a rarity on top of that is supposed to be a clean striker of the ball....bonus!!! but what is his primary skillset......some say he is a bowler first but don't think any of Shami,Bhuvi,Ishant or Yadav can be dropped for Pandya.....if he can make it as a 5th bowler-is he a better batsman than Binny or Jadeja leave alone Ashwin and Jayant Yadav?

He has developed a stock ball which is good length, off-stump and either swings away or seams in with bounce and good pace. Has a good, sharp bouncer too. The bowling stats also corroborate the improvements we see visually as a bowler. Edited January 30, 2017 by express bowling

I am not stating the stats in isolation here but as corroborative evidence. As I said.... from the NZ series, we have seen Pandya bowl in very good areas with pace, bounce and movement. He has developed a stock ball and consistency and always had a good bouncer. He looks like a proper seamer to me. I personally feel that he can be a very good support pacer and 5th bowler when we play tests outside Asia. He has a much longer way to go as a test batsman. Edited January 30, 2017 by express bowling
