Even when he contributes with the bat its like a series of edges and streaky boundaries. India as a team have failed to reach 150 on two occasions on decks which to be fair were not minefields. Why not just induct Pant as a batsman and bolster the batting? play 7 batters and 4 bowlers. tweaker and Rasgulla 2

Lets not forget he did well with both bat and ball in the recent ODIs. He didn't bowl today only because the wicket was slow and did not suit his kind of bowling. Bystander 1

He has bowled almost his full quota in most of the ODIs he played, and bowled well too. Public memory is very short. He also played 3 crucial knocks with the bat in the last 3 ODIs. I am also interested in seeing his progress as we still haven't seen him much or at least seen him in enough games to say that he is the deal. His bowling remains important to me as he is surely not a brilliant batsman to just play as a batsman. Bowling wise he has done decent so far and earned the champions trophy but performance in that tournament will be really critical. Big tournament for him that one.
