Be it on or off the field, Bhaskar is known for his generous and friendly behavior. However, there were reports that Gambhir was being disrespectful to his coach, as he used threatening language. “The unfortunate incident here obviously marks a new low in Delhi cricket and demands a disciplinary inquiry from the DDCA and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) as well. Is Gambhir not supposed to be a role model being a World Cup winner?” questioned a former Delhi player.

 

 

I kind of agree with him dropping nitish rana, chand and many youngsters so soon wasnt right

Delhi cricket was in shambles few years ago if i rememeber and sehwag and gambo had meeting with jaitley and sorted things.Dunno what is truth on this matter but really dressing room spats should not come out.

Delhi cricket needs someone like him to straighten up the politics and the mess.

 

If you watched the interview and heard what he said he clearly says he showed anger but not how the coach told the media.

 

Delhi cricket is a huge mess and players have gone to an extent where they have punctured selector's car tires for their politics because there has been many reasons. 

 

Anyone who has played in Delhi and knows how it works with DDCA will appreciate what Gambhir has done for youngsters over the years by being outspoken. Some of the current players playing are all because of Gambhir because he wanted to do his way by giving all chancces and not based on nepotism shown by selectors earlier who would put their club players into  Delhi team. Gambhir made sure that culture is gone.

 

The article which came out earlier was absolute tabloid journalism. 

 

There is a reason why great servant like Sehwag also parted ways with DDCA.

Last time Gambhir had a difference with Bedi regarding Nitin.Saini.I think this time it may be due to playing of Kejoroliya in the playing 11

Don't rate Gambhir as a cricketer but it's hard not to respect him as a person. Looks like he's again standing up for what is right. I'd take his side over the clowns who have ruined the Delhi Ranji Team.

Gambhir slams Delhi coach for creating insecure environment

Batsman Gautam Gambhir has criticised Delhi coach KP Bhaskar for "creating an atmosphere of uncertainty" among the youngsters in the side. Gambhir said he had an argument with Bhaskar after Delhi's Vijay Hazare Trophy match against Uttar Pradesh on Monday, but insisted that he was standing up for the younger players in the side, who felt insecure, and had not abused Bhaskar as had been stated in a few news reports.

"If protecting a youngster is a crime, I am guilty. If making 20-22-year-olds feel secure in an insecure environment is a crime, then I am guilty. But I could not have let this man (Bhaskar) play with careers of young players like Unmukt Chand and Nitish Rana," Gambhir told PTI on Tuesday.

"Dressing room is a private environment. It's like a bedroom. There may be many discussions but that's not supposed to be discussed with media. I never spoke what all he (Bhaskar) said after we lost a T20 match in Himachal as to what laurels he had brought to Delhi cricket and where these youngsters are taking it to? Is it how you deal with youngsters?

"I know how to deal with people. Lot of things have been said about him, about how I abused this man or that man. Lot of things are blown out of proportion. I backed certain boys for 2-3 years as these were the best boys to back. It is irrelevant from which club they come and we need to get this culture out of the way.

"For last three years, I have been trying to give security to these young players who are all 23 or 24. There has been a culture in Delhi cricket about making players insecure. I have myself faced that when I was a youngster. When I got into the Ranji Trophy team, I was made to feel insecure. Then only I had decided, if I ever take charge I will never make young boys feel insecure."

Rana played only the first three matches of the Vijay Hazare Trophy and was dropped after scores of 5, 5 and 0 while Chand was brought in for the last two matches, against Kerala and Uttar Pradesh, where he struck half-centuries.

Chand had captained Delhi in three Ranji Trophy matches this season, while Gambhir was on national duty. For the Vijay Hazare Trophy, Delhi's selectors chose to appoint 19-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant as captain in place of Gambhir. The decision, Bhaskar had said at the time, had been taken by consensus and with a view to manage Gambhir's workload.

"Look at somebody like Unmukt Chand. He was an India A captain recently, captained Delhi when I wasn't a part of the team," Gambhir said. "Suddenly you don't even pick him for Delhi's one-day side. Look where you have got his career to. Look at Nitish Rana, he played Duleep Trophy, he has played IPL for Mumbai Indians and suddenly three bad one-day games, you send him back.

"I don't have problems with people being dropped from the playing XI but don't send them back. Look how insecure they will feel when they come back next into the side. How much insecurity have you put in Unmukt and Nitish's mind? They are 23-year-olds for god's sake.

"Delhi doesn't have a good cricketing structure and already players feel they are one match away from getting dropped. I told Bhaskar throughout the season, just don't make players this insecure."

Delhi had middling results in the first-class and List A tournaments this season. In the Vijay Hazare Trophy, they finished fourth among seven teams in Group B, winning three of the six matches. They had a mid-table finish in the Ranji Trophy, too, winning two of their eight matches with two losses and four draws. They did well in the Inter-state T20 tournament, however, topping the North Zone table with three wins in five matches.

"When Unmukt got dropped, he (Bhaskar) kept on lying in front of the whole team," Gambhir alleged. "Unmukt called him to ask why he has been dropped from the team and he said 'I was not happy that you are keeping wickets'. If he was not happy he should have said that in a selection meeting. Had Nitish scored one 50, would he have called Unmukt on SOS basis then?

"It was decided at a selection meeting that Unmukt would be picked as a wicketkeeper because he kept wickets previous year as well. When Unmukt confronted him, Bhaskar said he was referring to zonal team and then Unmukt told him on his face he was lying. Unmukt had just played for a North Zone team 15 days back. That team had Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh and Shikhar Dhawan. If you want to tell me that zonal team was inferior to a Delhi team, good luck to these people."

Bhaskar told Hindustan Times that he had "discharged his obligations with honesty" and would file a report shortly.

"I have been told to restrain. Wait till I submit my report. All I did was discharge my obligations with honesty. Beyond that I can't comment on anything now," Bhaskar said.

Gambhir is absolutely right. You cannot chop and change players after 2-3 failures. Gambhir always takes responsibilities and would never doubt his intentions. Highly selfless person.

In the next game, I was ill and had to rest. I came to know that Bhaskar had told the selectors that I did not want to play."

He further elaborated, "During the Vijay Hazare Trophy, I was asked to join the team after Pradeep Sangwan was ruled out due to injury.The DDCA had sent me the air ticket to Bhubaneswar. But I was told late night that a junior had already been called up and I need not come. My sources told me that Bhaskar had informed the selectors that I was not fit and can’t field so I shouldn't be on the side."

In fact, Unmukt had been keeping in T20s for the last three years and everybody could make out that Bhaskar wanted to fit in another guy. Supporting Gambhir's argument about frequent changes in the team, Narwal said, “Gautam Bhai wasn’t ready to support a player who wished to play on his own terms. So when he objected, he was simply asked to step down. Bhaskar knew that till the time Gambhir was at the helm, he wouldn’t be able to pick his favorites. Appointing Rishabh Pant as Delhi skipper instead of the senior Shikhar Dhawan was a well-calculated move as the young Pant couldn’t have said anything against Bhaskar."

What is wrong with delhi cricket?????

Do they understand the kind of talent they have - Pant, kulwant, nitish rana, unmukt, navdeep saini, suyal, sanghwan

With such talent the amount of responsibility they have towards it, not only do they have responsibility towards these young players but also Indian team as all these players are potential match winners.

 

IF things above mentioned are going what are admin, selectors doing???????

 

Poor rishabh pant has been used like puppet as captain , who rather concentrating on his perfomance wud be affected by an environment and look at his numbers. Chances are he wont get selected for deodhar and then he has to rely on IPL. 

 

Once virat said in an interview- the reason he is so tough an aggresive is becoz of the problem he has to go through in delhi cricket politics to come up. If the best player of country has to face such issues well what about others. Few might loose it under all this pressure, then who is responsible for that failed talent. 

 

Now if Gambhir also leaves Delhi cricket, this wnt be helpful for youngsters. A senior cricketer is the biggest help any youngsters could ask for. Look at jharkhand how they have been helped as dhoni spend a lot of time with them . 

 

Delhi has produced finest talent in past few yrs and its high time bcci shud intervene and try to dissolve this mess

I think the player in question here is Ashish Nehra.

politics is everywhere in Indian cricket at domestic level. Look at Himanshu Rakheja. He was quickest junior bowler in BCCI fast bowlers hunt and now is clocking up 148K in his own nets. He imported a speed gun from US to measure his speed. He has gone for all the trials in Haryana, has done well but still not being picked due to politics. They are happy playing 125KPH trundlers in Jogi, Pahal and Ashish Hooda.
