sandeep Posted March 9, 2017 Posted March 9, 2017 ICC showed unseemly haste in attempting to bury this "issue". Good on BCCI for taking a stand.
kosingh Posted March 9, 2017 Posted March 9, 2017 A new toothless BCCI pretending to be tough after the ICC has already said that no action will be taken. A tougher BCCI not weakend by the Supreme Court would already have had its way by now. sandeep and Ironhide 2

goose Posted March 9, 2017 Posted March 9, 2017 Complaint only concerns the Smith incident on D4. I guess it could be deemed to extend to the whole test depending on how BCCI phrase it. On field umpire action already adequately dealt with the D4 transgression.

I disagree that it was adequately dealt with. A batsman gets fined for showing dissent, but a test captain doesn't get fined for violating a clear black and white rule? Biggest issue is the ICC's shoddy attempt at burying this issue without a proper investigation into the video footage. It really is up to the media to find something, till then the ICC will continue to bury its head in the sand. Gollum, Ironhide and express bowling 3

I suppose you are saying that doesn't preclude the incident from breaking other codes of conduct.

That's if we are being objective. Not to mention, necessitating a proper review of footage for prior days based on the official complaint registered by VK that he went public with. This sweeping under the rug business by the ICC will only be disrupted in the face of incriminating video evidence. But it looks like BCCI and CA have reach some understanding behind the scenes.

Can you give me video evidence when Smith looked to the dressing room for any other DRS decisions? He did it once and admitted it was a brain fade, whether he gets a fine or not I don't really care. What i do care about though is Kohli's comments to the media saying Australia have been systematically cheating, and doing so without proof, that is called bringing the game into disrepute, and unless evidence appears condoning his accusation's, he's going to be the one who cops the rough end of the stick regarding this issue, and I'm not talking about a fine, but a suspension, calling a touring party systematic cheats without evidence is a low act.

VK did not make his suspicions public - he went to the umpires with his suspicions prior to Smith getting caught red-handed. He did not accuse the Australians until after Steve Smith got caught doing it in full view of the world and explained it away as a one-off brain fade. And regardless of whether VK should have said what he did or not - let's put aside that for a moment - Do you agree that Smith's actions deserve sanction, at least a fine? A flagrant violation of an explicit rule should be fined? Especially if you are willing to stretch the "game into disrepute" clause to an honest answer to a leading question in a press conference. Handscomb has already told the world what the Aussie defence will be if video evidence is found - we didn't know the rules. Is that acceptable to you?

Virat's comments constitute at worst a Level 2 ICC offense. And that is true whether his allegations are true or not. I do agree that Virat weakend his case by brining up prior incidents without evidence. But regardless, he is not allowed to publicly seriously criticize game related incidents. That is a level 2 offense without ambiguity. Smith's one proven incident is more serious, and if you read the ICC game into disrepute clauses, you will see that there is a strong case to be made against him. Virat on the hand, is guilty of bringing a press conference into disrepute, if such a clause even existed.

Not contesting it but just want to see where the relevant clause related to it is phrased.
sandeep Posted March 9, 2017 Posted March 9, 2017 What Australian fans seem to believe that Virat Kohli is a psychic cricket genius - he's so adept at reading the opponent's minds that he is able to predict what types of "brain fades" will be committed by the likes of Smith, before they actually happen. How else could he have notified the umpires even before the strictly "one-off" brain-fade happened, since it never, ever, ever happened before. Brilliant mind-reading head of a snake he is, this Virat fella. Along with the BCCI "doctoring the pitch" Virat is playing doctor doctor with the aussie cricketers' minds and causing their brains to fade. This is not on, and against the spirit of cricket. So he must be stopped. express bowling, Mosher, philcric and 1 other 4

Hard to say, I'm trying to put myself in your shoes here, and TBH if I were in your shoes i don't think I'd get into a twist over it, tell the umps and if they did nothing I'd direct my change room to do the same. I honestly think this has blown up like it has because Australia got lucky with their DRS referrals, and the tipping point was India were plain unlucky, then evidence surfaces that on one occasion the Aussie skipper looked up at the dressing room regarding a possible referral, fact is though, it happened once and gained no advantage what so ever, if a touring side did it once in Australia I'd be prepared to give them the benefit of the doubt.

If it was one occasion only, the question remains, just How did VK find out before it happened, that Australia were going to do this on that "one occasion"? If you choose to believe Smith's claim of a brain-fade, then that implies you believe that Virat is psychic and can predict Smith's brain fades? Edited March 9, 2017 by sandeep
MCGGG Posted March 9, 2017 Posted March 9, 2017 Just now, sandeep said: If it was one occasion only, the question remains, just How did VK find out before it happened, that Australia were going to do this on that "one occasion"? So someone is lying then, as I've said a million times, with all the cameras around you wouldn't get away with it, Kohli IMO was just trying to justify his pathetic performance regarding DRS, and I'll say it again, it Smith did it on other occasions there would be proof, and we would have that proof, this is a major sporting event FFS, there are cameras everywhere.

It's actually clear who is lying unless you don't want to see it. You still did not answer the question - How did VK manage to alert the umpires BEFORE this so called one time brain fade occurred?

I think the line they are taking is, no umpires have corroborated Kohli's claim that he did inform them before
