Nair the hack will do zilch in this type of conditions, has flaws in his technique he was cleaned up like tailender by starc ( I know its strck and he can do it to any one but still nair don't give any confidence)  , pujara is hopeless, better to stick with dhawan only but demote him down the order lets see how he does with old ball around, that idiot is not an opener or else debut pant at least it wll be a good learning experience for him.

but we saw even when the ball has moved around even after loosing its shine

If giving exp is the idea why not nair- the guys scored a 300 not a small achievement and we need to get that middle order soughted so lets start trying and Nair is among the probables for middle order

@Khota

Ganguly says ill drop umesh for kuldeep, i wnt drop pandya he looked better then most of our batsman

Ganguly- with all due respect i love dhawan as odi cricketer, he hasnt done anything in test in these condition, he shudnt have played in 1st test itself

Look at the difference in the color of the pitch. Left side 2014 and right one is of last test.

looks can be deceiving.  Some pitches can play worse than they look and some better than they look.  Chennai 2012 is a great example.  it looked horrible but played better than it looked. Same way Edgebaston.  it played worse than it looked due to the carpet nature of the pitch.

Have patience with Hardik, coz it doesnt matter if we lose the English series. What matters is, Pandya will perform in the year 2025!

about that

Ganguly- U didnt loose 1st test becoz of hardik

and rightly so, stop finding scapegoats coz thats the most easiest thing to do, instead try finding real issues

you will never lose or win a series because of one player.

Vijay,Rahul,Pujara/Dhawan,Kohli,Rahane,Pant(WK),Pandya,Ashwin,Ishant,Umesh,Shami.

Umesh should be given this series fully. If he fails, then look beyond him.

Due to Rain,no point in playing Kuldeep. Pandya might use these conditions well.

Dropping DK means Vijay can stand at 1st slip without hassle. Vijay,Rahul,Rahane,Kohli/Ashwin should form the slip cordon.

If they are obsessed with playing Dhawan, play him at middle order & keep him out of the slips.

Batting first after rains will be a terrible decision.Bowlers are in form.Hope they stick to good length areas.

Some of the selections by Ganguly are always puzzling. Not playing Kumble in the final cost the WC. Dhawan has not done anything exceptional but has outscored the other two when given an opportunity.

Ganguly was once convinced Dinda is the best pacer in the country, also wanted Shulka to make a comeback!

Ganguly would have turned dinda into srinath under him

Jaimin says: Why can't India try Rohit as an opener in Tests? Dhawan and Rahul are anyways not providing the required starts. We all know what Sehwag did when he was asked to open in South Africa. Rohit on any day has better technique than Dhawan.

How can some people be so clueless about the game they follow religiously?

Dinda never played a test match.  We will never know how would he have fared in tests as his line and lengths used to be pretty good.

I won't pick a Dinda kind of pacer today with the kind of talent we have from 2015  onwards.

But, till 2014, our pace attack lacked accuracy and intensity as a group. There are 3 pacers who deserved some chances in test matches in this era.  Pankaj Singh, Ashok Dinda and Ishwar Pandey.  All were very accurate, bowled with a lot of heart, could move the ball and were fast-medium.  None of them were superb ... but would have been decent workhorse pacers who could maintain pressure from their end.

That's what a 5th ranked team will do when hosting the #1 test team in the world.  Make sure the pitch is as green as possible, even when the conditions are "unseasonably" hot and dry.

Edit - Rain due tomorrow afternoon as well and so on monday. So we are taking about 2.5 days cricket.

@kira - You were right, Kohli's India wont get whitewashed. It will be 4-0 loss this time with this test being a draw :giggle:

We'll win this series 3-1 or 2-1 if this match gets washed out

Why so negative, didn't they show enough fight last test. They might not win the series but they sure will win one or two tests.

Yup. One thing we have seen under kohlis leadership when he's down in the series, is his remarkable ability to rally his troops and come back in the series. 2016 in  Sri Lanka. 2017 against Australia. His last overseas tours to SA and Aus (2014). The only ones oblivious to this are dhoni sycopanths which you can excuse them because of how lofty standards dhoni set overseas so they are dissappointed with Kohli.

0,63,25,32,13 and 11 in the second test match his contribution was important since that Durban track was bowler friendly. Why do you hate Viru so much?

why would i hate Viru? I just tell the facts.  Sehwag averages 33-34 in Sena countries that is a fact. Sehwag was a great SC batsman like Pujara.  Pujara also had an important contribution in Wandrers win on that minefield.
