Or a flaw, he has played 29 tests with such nerves hard to believe.

He has been monkeyed with by Team management without giving him a chance to settle in the Test squad right from the get go. It will be no different going forward either. You can't play freely with a sword hanging on top of your head. Has the TM given him an extended run at the top? They keep bringing back Thigh slapper the moment they get a chance. They kept rotating the openers through some grotesque rotation policy without letting anyone settle into the role. In any case I do agree if he does not score runs with the chances given his test chapter is closed.

Rahuls has test career average of 37. He needs to take it to 45 at least to be considered as quality batsman. Talent is useless if one has average of 37 after 50 innings.

  .... I hope he does not turn in to Afridi of test cricket

Give him the next test and 2 tests in aus,if he fails - booted back to domestics.Mayank and rohit should be backup for him.Mayank gets priority with rohit having the flexibility of having good technique for aus pitches and being able to replace rahane in the middle order if needed.(if both vihari and rahane fail)

Kohli was averting in 40s as well in the beginning of his career. Kohli is different he has hunger to succeed. Rahul on the other has hunger for insta pics. His attitude is a big problem he acts like a typical urban kid who tries to act cool but that’s about it.

Another  bit off with Rahul is  his 'skeleton' . Though not a problem in itself,    generally opening batsmen who are tall  & comparatively  thin builds up as inferior batsmen when compared to those   who are much shorter in height & have broader waist line. Sunil Gavaskar, Hayden,Graeme  Smith,Boycott   etc etc comes to mind. Rahul is too off w.r.t body frame for my liking. A left handed stocky build  batsman to partner Shaw would be ideal for opening slot

Smith is 6'3, Matt Hayden is 6'2 and KL Rahul is 5'11

Hayden, Smith,  were not that leen like Rahul. They had bit more wider waist line in proportion to their heights .I think that brings more balance , especially for an opener.

He has not been monkeyed by the team management in the test arena.   Infact, he has been given an extended run, despite failing miserably in England (century in a dead rubber does not count much).   Fact is : He is an overhyped batsman who is useless in reality .   Should never be near the Indian team in tests.
