Days after Pulwama suicide-bombing in which 40 CRPF jawans were killed, the Jammu and Kashmir administration Sunday withdrew security cover provided to five separatist leaders including Mirwaiz Umar Farooq. “No security cover will be provided under any pretext to these five leaders and other separatists,” a security official said. The other four are Shabir Shah, Hashim Qureshi, Bilal Lone and Abdul Ghani Bhat.

According to the order, all security and vehicles provided to the separatists will stand withdrawn by Sunday evening. No security forces or cover will be provided, under any pretext, to them or any other separatists. If they have any other facilities provided by the government, they are to be withdrawn forthwith.

Reacting on the security withdrawal, a statement from Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, chairman of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference, said the separatists “never asked for security,” and called it a “non-issue.” “In fact, it was the government that insisted on keeping the personnel based on what they said was their assessment of threat perception. With or without these police personnel at Hurriyat residence all remains the same.” “It has no bearing nor can it in any way change the reality of the lingering Kashmir dispute or the situation on the ground or our principled stand and outlook regarding its resolution,” the statement added.

Home Secretary of the Jammu and Kashmir government carried out the security review of the separatists. Most of them were provided security by the state police. Many Hurriyat leaders including Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Abdul Gani Bhat, Moulana Abbas Ansari enjoy police protection in Jammu and Kashmir.

Pretty sure there are more separatists out there. No mention of Geelani or Yasin Malik. Time to extend it to PDP and NC snakes, hell some BJP chewts deserve similar treatment for indulging in treason during days of the PDP alliance.

But a good step IMO, let us see how long they last without the protection cover offered by our boys. Attacks on and assassinations of separatists in the past were pretty common...so fingers crossed.

Delayed decisison but good one. Khangress would have never taken such decision and BJP will never get Muslim votes anyways. No point wasting our hard earned money on these bastards. Tax them for everything including water. Withdraw all other amenities which the govt. is providing them. Any penny wasted on them is akin to funding the terrorists

Better late than never.

I also hear we have increased custom duty on Pak goods to 200%. What exactly do our citizens buy from them anyhow?

These beggars even import potatoes and tomatoes from us. Stop selling even a pin to them. Stop their water. And for heaven's sake stop issuing visas to these pigs for their medical needs.

The government has clarified that these 2 do not currently enjoy the privilege and hence no need to revoke.

Agree that this is a much delayed action, however a welcome step in addition to the other small visible steps being taken like revoking the MFN. No other government would have gone even to this minimum extent. And we do not know yet, what the invisible/surprise actions being planned are. I do not mind them being invisible at the moment as long as they retain their surprise element and inflict an unforgettable lesson for the Pakistanis and their supporters in the near future.
