Pure bowlers are rarely made full time captains of national teams.
All the bowlers who were captains of their teams were all bowling rounders.

Bumrah so far is a mug with the bat! Not that it matters but somehow I don't think he will be the captain.

Vaas was captain.

As for Bumrah, let him focus on his bowling, OP, why do you want to burden him with a political position

True but apparently only for one match.

As other posters here said, fast bowling is an injury prone profession and sometimes they may be out of action for months relative to say a specialist batsman. Also, most bowlers field on the outfield and captaining team while you are mostly on the outfield is difficult I guess. Whatever be the reasons, it is my observation that captaincy is rarely held by specialist bowlers (especially fast bowlers).

As you and others rightly say, he should focus on his bowling and not be given additional burden of captaincy.

Shaun Pollock was a fast bowler and was the captain of South Africa for 3 years.

Pollock had played test cricket for 5 years and was 27 years old not 24 and  one and a half years experience of test cricket .There is a huge difference .

Also we had Anil kumble leading India he was a good captain, Shane warne led rr to  its only IPL victory was he a bad captain, regarding bumrah, I find him calm, gutsy, thinking cricketer with never say die attitude, he doesn't have the over the top bravado we see in Kohli ,we saw holder and mortaza too led their respective sides decently, so don't only look at the downside, it doesn't usually means that a guy who is captain can't raise his performance, OK you guys tell me ATM in case of split captaincy, whom do you see as Captain, after Kohli ,Rohit ,pandya and Rahul , not happening after the kjo fiasco, only option we are left with is bumrah which is not a bad option TBH.

how did you get that? Bhuvi is a better option than Bumrah..

One of my issues with current team is lack of batting skills among bowlers.. Bumrah, Chahal, Kuldeep, Shami are good bowlers but should learn how to whack a few every now and then.. These pure bowlers cant be captains..

Coz genius, he is one of the very few bowler who plan's his dismissals And doesn't lose it completely, when someone tries to hit him, Bhuvi on the other hand, goes into panic mode.
