Gollum
Day one’s proceedings of the first Test is slated to begin with Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee and Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina jointly ringing the Eden Bell. Anand-Carlsen duo on Ganguly’s wish list to ring Eden bell on day 2 time permitting (test starts at 13:00 while GCT at National Library, Alipore starts at 14:00), Anand has accepted the invitation while current undisputed world chess champion's team is working out the logistics. A galaxy of Indian sports stars including cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar, Olympic champion Abhinav Bindra, tennis star Sania Mirza, world badminton champion P.V. Sindhu and six-time boxing world champion MC Mary Kom among others would be seen in the Test. The CAB will felicitate the team members of the first ever Bangladesh-India Test in 2000, a game where Sourav Ganguly, the BCCI president, made his debut as test captain . The first day of the match could see a helicopter revolving around the Eden Gardens from which a skydiver will come flying into the ground with the trophy. All former Indian test captains are to be invited for the first two days of the Test match and will be asked to share their favourite moments from India's test history. All captains at the ground along with Kohli and the rest of the team as well as the dignitaries to line up for the anthem. Captains to appear on commentary as guests through the day. Down memory lane segments recorded with individual captains to be played on the big screen at the ground in breaks Day 4 onwards. LINK LINK 2 Hope this starts a tradition in Indian cricket. Inviting legends from cricket and other sports, also famous personalities, like they do at Wimbledon. Edited November 9, 2019 by Gollum AuxiliA 1 Link to comment
Gollum
Ticket demand soars online for India's maiden day-night Test vs Bangladesh at Eden Gardens LOL they have also invited Modi, Paes, Gopichand, many other eminent personalities. Cancer patients, HIV+ children charity match during one of the breaks, various other trusts and NGOs. Hope it doesn't result in chaos like the 2016 WT20 Indo-Pak group match. Gollum
LOL Dada trolling BCCI, said the chess tournament was the more special event in Kolkata this week. Ofc a special occasion but at the end of the day just speed chess, not classical. He was fangirling all over Magnus and Vishy. Hope they accept the invite to ring the bell, schedule may be a problem but it can be coordinated. Magnus has done the kick off in La Liga a few times, the likes of Kasparov and Anand have done the same in Bundesliga. Will be good to see these legends on a cricket field, probably a first !!! Test cricket is so similar to chess. Edited November 21, 2019 by Gollum Link to comment
gattaca
These day night matches make zero sense for a county like India. We still have large population dependent on electricity for agriculture and industries. There will be a power cut at some stage in the match I am sure. BCCI is a corporate that wants to make money, if they spend on floodlights, generators etc to generate more revenue for themselves it is their right and more power to them. It is not like they are a factory releasing poisonous gasses or causing any damage Link to comment

You realized it just now!!!! It starts at 9 PM MST (8 PM PST) when it is day match. Day night obviously means it will be atleast mid night or later which means that it will be over by morning. Offcourse, D/N matches in India are not good for people in Western US/Canada time zones. Edited November 22, 2019 by sarcastic Link to comment
