R!TTER
You're seriously overestimating Kohli, there's only 1 score above 200 we've chased with him in the side & that was nearly seven years back! Compare that to SRT or Sehwag, Kohli is good in LO & only low pressure games, he's no chase master period View overall figures [change view] Primary team India Match result won match Innings in match 4th innings Totals in terms of batting team Grouped by each match Qualifications runs scored greater than or equal to 100 Ordered by start date (ascending) Page 1 of 1 Showing 1 - 28 of 28 First Previous Next Last Return to query menu Cleared query menu Overall figures Teams Mat Won Lost Tied Draw W/L Ave RPO Inns HS LS Start Date India v Australia at Mumbai (BS), 1964/65 1 1 1 0 0 0 - 32.00 1.98 1 256 - 10 Oct 1964 New Zealand v India at Dunedin, 1967/68 1 1 1 0 0 0 - 40.00 2.67 1 200 - 15 Feb 1968 India v Australia at Delhi, 1969/70 1 1 1 0 0 0 - 60.33 2.24 1 181 - 28 Nov 1969 West Indies v India at Port of Spain, 1970/71 1 1 1 0 0 0 - 41.66 2.51 1 125 - 6 Mar 1971 England v India at The Oval, 1971 1 1 1 0 0 0 - 29.00 1.72 1 174 - 19 Aug 1971 West Indies v India at Port of Spain, 1975/76 1 1 1 0 0 0 - 101.50 2.76 1 406 - 7 Apr 1976 India v West Indies at Chennai, 1978/79 1 1 1 0 0 0 - 17.85 2.69 1 125 - 12 Jan 1979 England v India at Lord's, 1986 1 1 1 0 0 0 - 27.20 3.23 1 136 - 5 Jun 1986 India v New Zealand at Bengaluru, 1995/96 1 1 1 0 0 0 - 75.50 3.69 1 151 - 18 Oct 1995 India v Zimbabwe at Delhi, 2000/01 1 1 1 0 0 0 - 63.33 5.06 1 190 - 18 Nov 2000 India v Australia at Chennai, 2000/01 1 1 1 0 0 0 - 19.37 3.76 1 155 - 18 Mar 2001 Zimbabwe v India at Bulawayo, 2001 1 1 1 0 0 0 - 92.00 3.42 1 184 - 7 Jun 2001 Sri Lanka v India at Kandy, 2001 1 1 1 0 0 0 - 88.00 3.35 1 264 - 22 Aug 2001 India v Zimbabwe at Delhi, 2001/02 1 1 1 0 0 0 - 21.00 2.74 1 126 - 28 Feb 2002 Australia v India at Adelaide, 2003/04 1 1 1 0 0 0 - 38.83 3.20 1 233 - 12 Dec 2003 India v South Africa at Kolkata, 2004/05 1 1 1 0 0 0 - 60.00 3.02 1 120 - 28 Nov 2004 India v England at Mohali, 2005/06 1 1 1 0 0 0 - 144.00 4.36 1 144 - 9 Mar 2006 India v Pakistan at Delhi, 2007/08 1 1 1 0 0 0 - 50.75 3.31 1 203 - 22 Nov 2007 India v England at Chennai, 2008/09 1 1 1 0 0 0 - 96.75 3.92 1 387 - 11 Dec 2008 Sri Lanka v India at Colombo (PSS), 2010 1 1 1 0 0 0 - 51.60 3.76 1 258 - 3 Aug 2010 India v Australia at Mohali, 2010/11 1 1 1 0 0 0 - 24.00 3.68 1 216 - 1 Oct 2010 India v Australia at Bengaluru, 2010/11 1 1 1 0 0 0 - 69.00 4.60 1 207 - 9 Oct 2010 India v West Indies at Delhi, 2011/12 1 1 1 0 0 0 - 55.20 3.42 1 276 - 6 Nov 2011 India v New Zealand at Bengaluru, 2012 1 1 1 0 0 0 - 52.40 4.13 1 262 - 31 Aug 2012 India v Australia at Mohali, 2012/13 1 1 1 0 0 0 - 34.00 4.05 1 136 - 14 Mar 2013 India v Australia at Delhi, 2012/13 1 1 1 0 0 0 - 39.50 5.04 1 158 - 22 Mar 2013 India v England at Mohali, 2016/17 1 1 1 0 0 0 - 52.00 5.11 1 104 - 26 Nov 2016 India v Australia at Dharamsala, 2016/17 1 1 1 0 0 0 - 53.00 4.44 1 106 - 25 Mar 2017 Edited February 24, 2019 by R!TTER Link to comment
Stan AF
India don't play attacking positive cricket as one should normally do. They look to preserve their wicket thereby drying up the runs and give wickets easily. Honestly many of our Test batsmen don't have back foot play at all to survive in such conditions. Stan AF
I'm going to get a lot of brickbats over this but yet I am going to say it. Kohli's chasing prowess is overrated as hell. Even in ODI's he hasn't faced a strong bowling unit yet. Fact of the matter is ODI bowling units of international teams are very sub standard these days compared to previous eras. Link to comment

There is no one in the team who’s good against serious swing , unlikely we will have one anytime soon with the influence T20 has had on batsmen’s technique . The way to win in places like England is to have lots of practice match and give batsmen time to make shuttle changes into their game , which good players can do . You need to persist with them . putrevus
Kohli himself has still no clue how to chase the totals in 4th innings. I was blaming bowlers till now for those defeats but if you cannot chase totals less than 200 than batsmen have no right to be in team.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Link to comment

Moochad
Problem is we may not have the confidence currently. We have failed in several small chases as of now, so we will need to do it once to get over the hump. The SL team is lucky in one way b/c no one expected them to perform so well. Link to comment
Gollum
It's not just about winning in 4th innings, these mofos have even forgotten how to draw batting out 3-4 sessions. Last time we drew a test in 4th innings was against England in Rajkot (2016) and barely just that too on a patta with only half a day left...another 15 overs and we would have lost even that. In recent times Aus had 2 great day 5 saves in Ranchi and Dubai, Lanka defied us heroically in Delhi and a couple of months back in NZ, NZ/RSA did it quite a few times....more or less every other team has been able to draw matches which we generally lose. That for a number 1 team is unacceptable. Shastri needs to put the boys on a drill, make plans, set up simulations in practice, hire mental conditioning experts, motivators etc...something drastic has to be done. Link to comment

We chased down 130 odd against Australia at home in 2001. We chased down 233 at Adelaide. We chased 200 odd against Pakistan in Delhi in 2007. We chased down 200+ twice against Australia in 2010 at home. Most of our overseas famous wins came when we batted first. For example, 2002 against england, 06 joburg, 07 Perth, 07 Trent bridge, 2010 Durban. I don't think we ever lost a manageable chase like the ones we lost last two years. We never had a strong bowling so we were rarely given the opportunity. Link to comment
