BCCI may lose the battle but they will win the war :agree: History, economics, capitalism and market forces dictate that any arrangement where the biggest and most powerful stakeholder and revenue generator is sidelined is bound to fail.

The current arrangement is akin to a company being run by a board of directors without the guy who owns 75% of stake (shares) in the company :giggle: It simply doesn't work in the real world and anyone with any sense can see it. The only reason the arrangement came to pass is coz the board of directors had an insider on their side (Manohar) and the majority stakeholder was involved with something more urgent (BCCI's battle with SC). Once the majority stakeholder gets its other business in order guess what's next on agenda? :phehe:

This!

The balance of power is skewed in BCCI/India's favour. I don't think that the ICC, ECB and CA executives are as smart and powerful as they are made to be. If BCCI wants to take its marbles and go home, then CT 2017 is screwed as the sponsors will pull out.

It is really as simple as this: Eyeballs = broadcasters = sponsors = adverts = revenue. BCCI has market power and that is the best power to have in these kind of negotiations. I still believe that sense will prevail and there will be deal ~450M. But if not, I want the BCCI to go nuclear and withdraw from ICC altogether.

Arre chill maaro. Amidst all the strategies being planned in the higher levels, the true power of the game lies in the hands of the fans. Indian cricket is nothing without love and support from fans. Jo hoga achha hoga.

People are crazy, especially this Malcolm Merlyn, calling this and coming up with titles like  "slave dog of white people" and stuff like that won't take this matter anywhere.

You can still do the same things and attack ICC firmly by changing your tone and language. No wonder many people in India don't know how to a react to a challenging situation with some cool approach.

This is not even called "hot head" approach, this is just another pathetic approach.

Well said.

We need to pull out of this CT, it's a meaningless tournament anyway. Let us see how much ICC earns without India.

Bhai tumko sirf US mein baith ke match dekhna hai popcorn khate huye.Yahan bechara koi FC cricketer ya District wala cricketer maare baache tujhe kya?Saare cricketers ko pension mile ya na mile kya farak padta hai. Phir se kisi Bhajji ko ya Sachin ko phansa de aur is baar BCCI unko naa bacha paaye kya farak padta hai. Agli baar Smith Seena thok ke cheating kaare aur phir ungli dikha ke chala jaaye aur BCCI kuch na kar saake to kya farak padta hai.Koi PCB ka Pakistani Governor isse bharat ki sikast kaahe to kya farak padta hai.

Bus Match ho aur hum dekhein.Kuch bolo to hot headed.

PS:Ask someone how Indians were treated by Aussies or English before BCCI became rich.

Bechare toh sahi hai but you are using ridiculous lingo which even an India would be ashamed to use.

Everyone knows we need to win the battle, you are not the only one. But that language won't take you anywhere.

You want to win this by being upfront even though you do not have to sound diplomatic, you don't have to talk shyt like that also to win this battle.

Tell me do the White Boards treat the other non white boards esp Asians as equal? They are treated as dogs. India was in a better position as BCCI had power.

You are talking two different things now trying to defend what you said. This has nothing to do with BCCi winning the battled.

Its not about the money at all for CA and ECB. Its about the power in ICC. They are using the money as a distraction and BCCI is falling for it like fools. Bcci will eventually get 400mil+ but in the process they lost the strong alliance, they are protraited as a greedy board, some sort of villain who dont want associates to improve.
BCCI should accept the voting result, keep their cool and work quietely in the bakground to get the boards on their side. No need to rush anything, let things cool down. This is what Dalmiya would do. Hell, he wouldnt let this mess happen in the first place.
Indians are like, Srini would never let it happen. Haha. Its that fool Srini who started it in the first place. He shook hands with the wrong people.

If not Srini, any sane person who takes up the job at the board would do it. Anyone from new generation would understand this. The problem is that most of the boards are stuck with old people who understands nothing but socialism.

if not for half or more of the countrys administration with Jaitley one would have imagined he might have taken some interest in BCCI some time ago.Is there no badass lawyer, politico or an industry leader that can be asked to come into bcci. Is there no one else ?

dude we are talking doing realpolitik in a very politically charged environment like ICC, i don't understand whats this fascination with moral fiber and ideological considerations, Giles Clarke or any of the other board chiefs do not give a **** and they will do what ever will make their boards more money, and pak will beg and claim victory for what ever any one does. Its a ruthless world you would need a strong leader with self interest of Indian cricket in their core, and a tendency for realistic pragmatism ,if not outright coercive Machiavellian diplomacy.

There maybe some truth to what you are saying but in the end it all boils down to money. Power for CA or ECB would anyways be shortlived, all it will take is a hothead like ganguly as BCCI boss to bring back order. In current situation our own guy is showing them the way and they are walking down the road. Everyone is smart enough to understand where ICC get its money from, after all star didnt pay 1+ billion to show BD vs WI in an ICC event. Sure ICC may win this round but they wont win the war.

The first rule of politics is get the majority on ur side. With votes comes power, with power comes money. BCCI need to win back friendly boards. Think long term. Bcci is losing it's power fighting for some pocket change. Sometimes, you gotta lose some to win big in future

Once you cave in, you are everyone's bitch. No one is going to give you any votes in the future as they know you can bend over anytime you get shafted. From Ram Dhari Singh Dinkar's poetry where he has Krishna talking to Yudhistar about when its time to show your power and take a stand

Kshama shobti us bhujang ko jiske pass garal ho

Its time for us to show our fangs

Thats not an accurate analogy.

BCCI can have their own Champions Trophy and their own World Cup and it will bring in slightly more than 0 dollars in profits. Actually it would make negative profits because of the huge expense to run such a tourney.

On the other hand the 9-team ICC can still hold a WC and CT. Sure they might lose some or even a lot of revenue, but thats better than being held hostage by the BCCI. You're going to be broke either way, might as well stand up to the extortionist.

The 9 team ICC can still sell broadcast rights. Instead of Indian sponsors paying big bucks, there will be sponsors from the other 9 countries paying small bucks. You don't think UK, Australia, Pakistan, and Bangladesh don't have companies to sponsor events?

Instead of a broadcaster offering $200 million for a ICC event, they will offer 50. Maybe they will offer 100. Its a loss, but still better than giving India 33% of all revenue and the ensuing power that it comes with.

9 should not be held at gunpoint by 1, no matter how rich or powerful. Lets just pray, the ICC is able to ratify this come June.

what an ignorant rant of a post. Waste of space.

who the * is the extortionist ? India brings in 2 bil of the 2.5 bil revenue for the period. 20.3% profit is a big charity from BCCI and India.

lol that gave you away...haha

if that happens then BCCI cedes thats when it happens.

with that statement you are no longer idealistic, but realistic so i am good. There is no room for idealism in realpolitik is all i am saying.

BCCI is likely to lose because apparently there are still some snakes in some state boards who back that slimeball snake S .Manohar.

The latest on cricbuzz is that BCCI will serve ICC notice after SGM on 7th.
