Raina has outperformed him in the IPL by yards. And is a better fit for the team from a team balance perspective - Karthik cannot provide big hits from early in his innings, which is what our current team needs in the middle order, and Raina is a viable part-time bowling option if we are getting clobbered. Same with Pant - could have learned a lot about conditions in England, ahead of the 2019 WC. There's no doubt that out of Karthik and Pant, who's going to be in contention for the team then. FYI, I was being sarcastic with the southie quota remark. There are too many ICF-ers who take baseless potshots at the "Bombay Lobby" and pass it off as fact. But clearly, there's some non-cricket reasons here in picking "KKDK" over Raina & Pant. StriKe 1

Current selectors arent going by IPL, which is understandable. Raina must have pissed someone that he was discarded like it.
