I'd go on and say we need strike bowlers who can pick up wickets to win games. Bring in Kuldeep and Chahal. Wrist spinners and wicket taking options. Kuldeep and chahal are not even debatable to have or not. They are a must in ODIs now. But both cannot play in playing eleven because leggies or chinaman usually go for runs. So the other spinner must be different. Either slow left arm or other but not wrist spinner. ThePhenomenal1 and Unstable Joe 2

So don't think it will be a big risk. No harm in trying. Can always go back to a finger spinner if it doesn't work. express bowling 1
Vijy Posted June 24, 2017 Posted June 24, 2017 Kuldeep/Chahal/Chahar would be better but if they want to shore up batting then it has to be K Pandya. HemuChandra 1
WeStMiDz Posted June 24, 2017 Posted June 24, 2017 Krunal's batting does not look very natural and is often cramped by quicker bowlers. The most improved batsman of the left arm slow bowlers is Axar Patel.

Axar should not be allowed inside the team. I agree Krunal's batting looks ugly-ish (too many hoicks) and he can be cramped easily. But, in terms of game awareness and absorbing pressure, I believe Krunal is better than the other contenders and this is what we will need from a No.7/8 Unstable Joe, ThePhenomenal1, Ankit_sharma03 and 1 other 4
Silva Posted June 24, 2017 Posted June 24, 2017 IMO both Pandya brother should be in the playing 11. this would be best option for team balance because you have 7 legit batsman and 6 bowlers(4 specialist and 2 solid back ups). this strategy of stacking the team with Batsman and a bunch of part time bowlers backfired twice in this champions trophy as India allowed two weak batting attacks score 320+. Vk1 Posted June 24, 2017 Posted June 24, 2017 With our attitude of playing with almost the same set of players baring injuries we could be in a precarious situation in 2019. If some players lose form or get injured their replacements will hardly have played many games for India. Jadeja or ashwins probable replacements by 2019 Is a big worry.
Vk1 Posted June 24, 2017 Posted June 24, 2017 I guess the bigger worry is that this current group of selection committee shouldnt be the one picking for 2019. They will screw it big time. Unstable Joe and ThePhenomenal1 2

SUMO Posted June 25, 2017 Posted June 25, 2017 He is definitely much better batsman and good hitter but not sure about his bowling. Jaddu was a good odi spinner before his recent slump, I think jaddu needs a wicket taking bowler at other end to be effective. ashwin has totally flopped. On recent form Krunal can be better than jaddu

Both before and after, he was steady but not very useful. If Krunal can give 8 overs at 5 RPO with 1 wkt than would be good enough provided that he contributes more than Jaddu with bat (esp in terms of SR) Unstable Joe and SUMO 2

express bowling Posted June 25, 2017 Posted June 25, 2017 Perfect time to try out Krunal in ODIs in place of Jaddu. We missed a great opportunity against WI. ThePhenomenal1, Unstable Joe and Bystander 3
express bowling Posted June 25, 2017 Posted June 25, 2017 Now is the time to try out new players in ODIs and see how they do. Now is not the time to arrive at conclusions. We will do that in late 2018. Mosher and Unstable Joe 2

Looks like these two won't sleep until they lose 2019 world cup for India. Unstable Joe, express bowling and Mosher 3

I would replace Ashwin and Jadeja with Kuldeep and Axar. Krunal does not put much revolutions but he hasn't been very expensive in IPL. He is not worst bowler. Jadeja wasn't great either before dhoni persisted with him for countless matches. There are no ready made replacements and foolish to expect so. express bowling 1
