On an average Rohit gives the same start as Rahane. Its not like Rohit makes it count always for his initial slow batting.

Rohit and Rahane are million miles apart as ODI cricketers lol

I think kohli is smart enough to realize dhonis waning powers. We would probably see hardik more and more if top order bats till 37th over. One thing I would like to see is jadhav getting many more chances.

Jadhav needs to come in more in the middle overs with spinners bowling,he ll be deadly there.

Feel that we haven't seen his full capabilities.. reminds me of Andrew symmonds though not that level. Most innovative player right now along with rahul

He seems to be a very smart bowler too,i don't know how he hasn't played more he is already 32,what a shame for indian cricket.

You are dropping Rohit from the team? Wtf? @maniac

I know he usually makes up his s/r after some time but he's so hit and miss you just can't always trust him.

Rohit has a SR of 90s as opener .

Rahane's is 82.

He won't have that high strike rate if he doesn't regularly make it count.

S

LOL. Fail again. Read quoted post again.  Also Rahane batted in middle order before and Rahane usually did not get to bat on pattas like Rohit. Zimbabwe tour etc.

Maybe you should lol

Nice excuse regarding pattas.

Rahane batted at pattas in the England series. What did he do ? Single digit scores and sucking up momentum

Can you link me to source where Rohit SR is 90 as opener.

Look this is not Rohit vs Rahane debate. Rohit is better ODI player. I was talking about starts they give. No excuse.Rahane did not play on Pattas much. This is true. Otherwise his strike rate would be close to 90. Nobody is claiming he would be Devilliers on Pattas.Rahane played that series when out of form. Rahane has been through some low for some time now. Even in tests he isn't looking comfortable but managing. Wouldn't read much into that England series.

Also SR of Rahane you quoted is of being an opener or overall?

Rahul, Pandya,  Jadhav, and possibly Pant all have capabilities as finishers. If we move Dhoni to 4, I think our finishing ability will be fine.
