because he is bowling quicker now and doing well. it is all about performance.  He is doing well so he is lauded. if Umesh does well, he will be praised and now as he was not good this game, people are asking him to be dropped.  We are not bhakts like you. For us, whoever does well and brings results should play.

Well said...Some people here are so obsessed with pace here. It's unbelievable. They blamed Dhoni for Umesh being a crap bowler in General. Now poor guys can't blame Kohli as he is doing worse under him. Infact umesh had a better record under Dhoni than kohli did. Apparently kohli gives confidence to Umesh which is the biggest joke in the history. He gets dropped just after 1 bad match these days... They even said how Umesh should play ahead of Bhuvi in Odis and T20Is..  some of them chickens yet to post here.

As for the myth of Dhoni supporting him, Dhoni wanted him to be completely defensive, out and out declared Bhuvi will never be a death bowler. Bhuvi was completely wasted under Dhoni, bowling 6-7 overs upfront with Dhoni setting the lines he wanted him to bowl .

 

Bhuvi started bowling in death and increased his pace under his IPL captain and coach. Under Dhoni he would have remained a trundler

What a lot of rubbish that is... its always a myth. He performed equally well before and after. Check his stats in 2015. Well you guys are a Umesh bhakts  no point even denying that unless you are embarrassed to say it out then it's ok.

There is no moral high ground to take over here amongst posters on either side of support. Having a likening towards fast pace is a natural tendency. This debate has been done to death and there is no point starting it again. So i would stick to the topic. Good thing about Bhuvi is that he can bowl longer spells. With the other bowlers who will have to ball in short bursts or spells due to their high speeds, Bhuvi is a ideal combination for the faster bowlers who will help rotate the third pacer at one end. I mean Bhuvi will bowl 9 overs spell whereas the two super fast bowlers (whoever they are) will bowl outright pace spells of 4 and 5 overs (something like that) from other end. What he does offer is wicket taking threat at one end while also letting other bowlers bowl around him.

He averaged 38 in ODIs. now he is doing well in ODIs and has become good at death. Tests, now he has started to do well and still has to prove on flat tracks but because he is doing and Umesh leaks runs even after so many years, he should be backed to prove himself on flat tracks too.

 Is that the reason he came out and said how he helped him... His record under Dhoni in Odis is too good in many matches he played.. Bhuvi was always good in T20s in general.. sachin PR bot is now saying how warner improved him. LOL @velu I think sachin playing under Dhoni improved him as well what do you think about that ?

Please don't derail the thread by making it a Dhoni vs Kohli discussion. Bhuvi has improved because of himself. What Dhoni or Kohli did is intangible and is a tell tale.

Been saying this for years but many Umesh fans kept denouncing Bhuvi while supporting Umesh. No harm in supporting anyone but to denounce another talented guy is what went crazy with many Umesh fans here. 

 

And dare I say, its funny that most umesh fans on the same day gained enlightment that Umesh should be dropped all of sudden after first innings. 

 

This message is for not for all Umesh fans but those many fans who felt like o yeah lets drop Umesh now since one of our mates who backed Umesh here on ICF is saying. Funniest pattern I have seen.

Congrats Bhuvi but he will still play only on helpful pitches in India I think, Yadav still needs to play in second test.

When i look at the current pace attack, i personally feel that Shami and Bhuvi are in rhythm and bowling wonderful spells - spells which are turning matches on its head, albeit helped by brisk ton by Virat. Still it is a rare achievement by Indian pace bowlers to be match turners in same match in both innings.
