Pujara is currently 100 some not out and has played about 330 balls but Kohli understands thats his game. Like I said, that was a move Kohli tried and realized its not tthe right move and he changed it back. He won't drop someone who is performing. However if both are in indifferent form, kohli will prefer dhawan. As @vvslaxman pointed, he even spoke about pujara strike rate. There is nothing wrong with captain having preferences as long as there is no bias http://www.espncricinfo.com/story/_/id/17651903/asked-cheteshwar-pujara-quicken-strike-rate-virat-kohli Edited November 26, 2017 by New guy

I have said it over and over again, Kohli isn’t perfect and I agree with all those decisions being absolutely wrong, but doesn’t mean r tries to show preference in terms od showing dosti and yaarana. Its just means he has scene things different and realized later. He made some choices which weren’t good, just like many captains make every game or series. As he continues his career he will continue to make mistakes and so will other captains around the world since no one is oerfect and every sees the game differently from another. But it doesn’t mean captain like Kohli is showing bias in his decision making.

I dunno about wrong reasons. Kohli wanted to bring a change in mindset where we play more aggressively with faster bowlers and aggressive batsmen

If you cannot see that he is better than Vijay than you need to clean your glasses. The only problem I see with Dhawans game is that he is prone to unforced errors (borrowed the term from tennis). If there is a real coach that can be sorted out. Vijay is a good player too but I will put dhawan over him. You couldn't be more wrong mate.vijay is too good of a test bat and he has always scored "hard " runs which I value more.
WC2011INDIA Posted November 26, 2017 Posted November 26, 2017 why the * do people talk about past records so much....ever heard that one should not live on his past glories? A guy might be having poor past, but today the same person can do wonders depending on factors. Shikhar has been very good as opener for the past couple of test matches. Should be persisted for SA series. If the same issues crop up then he should be dropped for overseas tours and be made a specialised subcontinent test opener. Same applies for Hahane. His past records don't mean jackshit because at present he is pathetic. I can tell that he is going to struggle big-time in SA because of Keshav and Rabada. Those guys will be introduced when Hahane comes in to bat. Rest we know.

Dhawan has always scored in subcontinent, so nothing has changed. Similarly he doesn't have a technique for overseas tests, nothing has changed in that either. In subcontinent, especially at home any of these players will win you the match as long as Ashwin, Jadeja and Pujara are in team. It is overseas where we are struggling and so we need to invest in players who have done well overseas or have potential to do well overseas. No problem trying new in form players.

You are only as good as your last innings and if kl does not get a Big hundred it will be VJ and Dhawan opening in SA Sadly that's true. Rahul is one for the future though. I'd want him on the team sheet ahead of anyone else.

People improve their game and become better over time. Others regress. So please quit bringing up what happened two years back. Current form is all that count. Shove the damn cricket stats where sun dont shine and better picture will emerge. WC2011INDIA 1

SL Just see the highlights looks worst then ranji side.......SA wudnt have these poor bowlers they ll have steyn, morkel, rabadda, philander........good luck against them Have u heard that u shud learn lessons from past mistakes. Last time Rohit n dhawan went to Sa piling on runs in home season and we ll knw what happened Rahane has always been avg against spinner but come overseas he is in diff Past reputation well atleast vijay n rahane has one and vijay is also scoring presently. This living in past is used for someone like yuvraj singh who hasnt been same for ages or they are on verge of retirement Really u dnt even see the diff between the attacks of a minnows like Lanka n SA.......

He should improve with his on field tactics with more experience , no doubts there and am not criticising that aspect , but what I doubt is he will struggle to pick the team he wants trying to make everyone around him happy .
