96*(78) vs Bangladesh - reasons - chasing a mammoth total against a fairly good attack in a big tournament semi final.Not only that he scored a  massive 96* too.This is his best attack.

 

Then comes 35(49) in world cup final.Huge score board pressure. Two match winners already back in the pavilion.It was his knock along with that of Gambhir that put Indian chase back on track.Yes.... it was only 35 runs, but with out that India would definitely have lost that final.

35(49) in a WC final for a youngster hast to be at the top . The result could have been easily different if not for his knock .

Even you can score runs against trundler brigade of Mortaaza, Fizz and Roobel. Even Afg, Ire and SL got better bowling attack than them.

Agreed.... convincing gap between a world cup final & champions trophy semi.On was SL attack & other was BAN attack despite Mustafizur a caliber bowler though.But there is a big big gap between 96* & a mere 35.Isn't it?? That's why I chose like that

Kohli should get a pass for WC 2015 , he was the only player who was playing non stop for 3 months that too away from home.Mentally it is so draining, it showed in performances too he started well against Pakistan but faded as tournament got progressed.

 

Sachin was telling in 1992 how much mental drain it was for the team to be in Australia for long test series and then tri series followed by world cup .By world cup most players were running on empty tanks.

But seriously this record is ****, how do his chamchas hail him as better than SRT with this nonsense record? SRT has at least 5 memorable innings while chasing in the big stage.

That's why they need to have more than 4 days of gap between IPL and WC in 2019. Now since Kohli plays for the wooden spoon challengers, he will get more rest by default but it would be ideal for the BCCI to move IPL earlier and have at least 2 weeks of no cricket before the WC.

Which knocks in icc tourney chasing except pakistan one? I cant recollect any. 

 

Yes Kohlis record looks pretty mediocre barring one wc final. But with him,  he can switch it on big time in one stroke.

Yet he averages a mammoth 62.8 in these chasing inns in ICC  tournaments.Means he has been not at all bad by any accounts.After all 96*,76*,58*,35 have all been quality knocks depending on the context.What he needs is  to score 2 or 3 100s chasing in knock outs of  remaining world cups or champion trophy  matches to close the debate for once and all

These days batsmen get so many chances to stat boost that its not even funny.

The definition of big stage seems to change when talking about Tendulkar . Coco cola or a Compaq cup , wouldnt classify them as big stage . They are just todays bi-laterals .
