Team management rejected BCCI's idea to send Test regulars early to acclimatise, claims report

the issue was players wanted some rest after SL test series and between SA test series.

What rest do the test specialists require, we had enough break between the two low profile SL series. Also, if rest was required for others then why play Rohit, Rahul, Bhuvi, Bumrah, etc. in ODI series. Could have easily rested all during ODI series time and got them early to SA.

Excuses can be given for everything, but it is clear the team is under prepared. You can't even give excuses for underpreparing in school exams, and these are some of the highest paid professionals we are talking about.

How much does test regulars like vijay, pujara , ishant, ashwin, jadeja, saha play whole year. Shami has been on bench for long.

Rahane was in Odi squad......

Few questions i have,

1. How is team managment supposed to organize practices matches in SA while international matches are being played in india? By sending a team managment b team?

2. If im not mistaken Bk, dhawan, rohit, rahul, bumrah, and maybe even rahane (cant remember) were selected to the odi/t20 squads. Does bcci expect them to turn down international cricket to attend practise sessions that wont even feature the main coaching staff? Who would turn down an actual international match for practice unless its mandatory?

didnt our seniors batsman wen to Aus in 2012 tour when few others were playing a series against Wi. So yes it can be done, international cricket can be left....

At the end of the day it depends what matters, there are enough coaches and consultants that can be taken or hired for help .

Likes of Australia, England do it all the time. They have the B team and non test players play the LOI series before a tough test series, and send test team early for preparation.

The practice match was scheduled after the team was supposed to reach there, isn't it.

But the point is bcci selectors didnt pick a b team against sl. They selected an A team filled with players that were going to play the test series in SA as well. If the wanted the test team players to arrive in SA early they could have made it clear Instead of asking after all the arrangments have already been made.

But isnt bcci responsible for finding and hiring those coaches instead of "team managment."

What is worse?

A) Captain who is inept but tries hard

B) Captain who is capable but dont bother.

Can you guess which Indian captain falls in A and B category? And which one you would choose?

In the end it doesn't matter, everyone is judged based on your wins. We have a complaining culture in our country, so we will continue to diss Kohli and co since they are failing. The same team will be hailed great once they win something next. Dhawan or Rohit will score some runs in the next game or even Kohli will win us a game in next game with bat and he will be admired. All the logic and analysis will go out of the window and everyone will change their tune once we win.

So in the end its all down to wins. WC, Tough away test series, Champions Trophy, etc are what that matters and will be cherished whichever captain wins it. Kohli's crucial 2 years as captain has begun. All the hate about favouritism, attitude, etc will be forgotten if he starts winning.

Read the OP link properly. It says BCCI suggested not picking most test squad players for the ODI and T20 series which the team management (coach and captain) refused.

No it doesnt. Bcci gave players the options to skip the odis and t20s. Giving an option isnt the same as a suggestion. If bcci wanted players to be in SA early they shouldnt have picked the players and sent them to SA instead. They didnt and are now deflecting the blame if news is true.

Who is the boss here?

BCCI should hold the management accountable.

Increasing brand value of kohli's reception was not the team's job.

Can't blame the individual players when there is unabashed bias in team 11 selection.

Hope shastri and kohli are made accountable .

Yes because kohli demanded the players not go to SA so thet can go to his wedding instead.

Wtf is going on in this forum.

It appears as if there is too much on the plate of the cricketers to bother about particular series.  May be it is time for  a dedicated management team (captain and coach), which can work on strategies including acclimatization initiatives for tests. Someone like Che, does not play LOIs, can be considered as one of the contenders
