Today, he bowled too many short balls, that too on a very slow pitch. Could have been a plan to bowl short by the management ... but he did not change the plan despite getting badly hit. Avesh has to have a good Yorker n full length ball too n he has to use not more than 2 bouncers in an over else he will become predictable... express bowling and Suhaan 2

Umesh said that Nehra and Kohli have advised him to cut down variations and bowl at full pace at the stumps. He was going for runs anyway while trying variations. It was a very practical advise. ( and many of us at ICF had held the same view ) Many of the younger ex-players, who had played mostly in the 1990s and 2000s, come across as educated thinking persons ... and would be good coaches and mentors. Every pacer should base their games on good length off stump and channel deliveries... and use bouncers , yorkers and slower balls as variations. Mixing lengths is very important but with good length balls as stock balls. Even in LOls it holds true unless one is bowling in the death overs ( where yorkers and slower balls become stock balls ). Avesh was bowling excellently in his first 3 matches ... basically did all of the above. I don't know why he changed his approach last game. I hope he does not get dropped but is advised to bowl like his first 3 games instead. In Ponting and Gambhir, DD have 2 experiences persons to do this. I am very surprised as to why both these guys have been neglected. Does that mean that these two don't fit as T20 bowlers like Siraj does not suit T20... Possibly their line n length is test match type full length bowling.
