Test series result is the ultimate goal of a tour, and when the soliatry test win of a tour is a dead rubber match how can it be better than a drawn series? Also we narrowly lost 2-3 in the ODI series of that tour, with two rain-affected match wins for SA. The 2010-11 tour was our best SA tour. PERIOD. But let's stop being bangladesh and talk big before the match or series. It puts unnecessary pressure and you look like absolute fool if it doesn't work out well. Here we absolutely dismantled SA in LOIs. If your only consists of test then yes but test also had ODI and t20s, so, test wasn't the only thing to play for. This is the most silliest of undermining our own team's achievements. Here we have several people like you who can't stand the team winning who rejoice in losses and spread negativity and if we had lost those LOIs, you would be the first one say how lost those series but because we won, now tests are the only thing important. Every win is as important overseas whether it's a test match or a 10 over match doesn't matter because players still have to go and play win a game and no team gives them on platter. FYI we also won the T20 series in 2010/11. The ODI series was lost narrowly 3-2 thanks to rain. You can have your opinion but the only test series Draw is way more important than a bilateral ODI series win. Some of the tours did not even have ODI series and had just the test series, and obviously many would not have had T20s. Most of the future FTP tours also have separate Test and LOI legs, so claiming a successful tour based on LOIs is comical May be can claim as most successful LOI part of tour ever in SA , despite only two tours before having ODIs and T20s. Straight Drive
Enough of talk. Lost SA test series after all the talking, now time to win some test series outside Asia, particularly in countries like SA,England NZ and Australia. Smith, Amla, ABDV, Duminy, Steyn, Morkel etc at the peaks of their career. This year's ODI series featured a 2nd 3rd 4th 5th 6th string SA team with their main guns either injured or rested for the infinitely more important Aus test series that was to follow. SA didn't care over here, they fielded guys who we never knew even existed...most inconsequential and meaningless series win in the history of Indian cricket. Moreover bilaterals have lost meaning in modern times, look at the team Aus are fielding in the Eng series...may as well ask Lanning and co to take the field today. I repeat performance wise the 2011 ODI series had much higher quality displayed by the Indian side. If SA had taken this series seriously...well recall what happened in 2013. No need to be content with these breadcrumbs thrown at us...sorry if I am being too harsh and blunt. UrmiSinhaRay 1 Link to comment
