Is Tamim Iqbal overall best opener from Asia?

He kept failing even against Afghanistan. Not Consistent at all. Bangladesh keep playing him because they have no one else better than him.

He is definitely better than Rohit Sharma. better fielder too

He is not better than Vijay in tests or KL rahul in ODI's

Format wise there are better players than him, but none of them are good across all formats.

KL Rahul in ODIs? What has Rahul done in ODIs?

I would take him over all the guys you mentioned. Only KL Rahul has more potential.

So i looked up his record. LOIs there is no comparision, Dhawan is way ahead. Lets come to test, overall avg again Dhawan is way ahaead. The only place Tamim has done better than Dhawan is in England. In NZ Dhawan is way ahead of tamim, SA both have garbage records.

Tamim might appear good because he plays with mediocre players overall Dhawan and Tamim there is no comparison.

Dhawan Avg in SENA: 27

Tamin Avg in SENA: 38

Hell even Dhawan Avg Against SENA overall is poor: 31

He has not had the chance to show us what he can do due to politics, bias and favoritism. He should be opening for India ahead of Rohit Sharma and you will see the results

Sure Rahul has only player 12 ODIs so too early to judge. Ganguly has been so critical of Virat for leaving out Rahul but you still need to remember Rahul avg 32 in ODI now remove his scores against Zim and his ODI avg is ~8.5.

Dhawan was all but gone in favor of Rahul, look at how he grabbed his opportunities by scoring game after game. Sure Rahul has played a few good innings here or there but he has to do what Dhawan did, forced his way in. Now before you claim how Rahul is better test player than Dhawan, in SA Dhawan played 1 test in both innings combined he scored 32 runs. KL Rahul played 2 test in 4 innings combined he scored 30. Rahane only played 1 test but he showed why dropping him from first 2 test was a bad idea and that is what Rahul hasnt been able to do.

Its how you read stats, Dhawan has only played 6 home test against sena, Tamim almost 14. Both have similiar avg at home against sena. Also Tamim has never played a test in Aus.

He has upped his game for sure, top of the league now but TBH he is poor man's Rohit in so far as ODIs are concerned

LOL...

He is far superior than rohit in challenging conditions.

Yes...on roads, rohit can be better than not just Tamim but everyone else...

But on testing conditions, Rohit can do a ****...

Very underrated batsman and also has a test hundred at Lord's.

But then Agarkar bhai also made a test hundred at Lord's after 7 ducks :phehe:

I don't think so, if Rohit Sharma was playing for either Pakistan or Bangladesh, he would have played 75 plus tests by now and with his talent on subcontinent pitches he would have scored heaps of runs.

Tamim is nice player but he would not even walk into Indian E team.
