Pant should play in place of Dhoni else he has no place in side. We will need batsman who can bowl and kedar is doing job so i feel he will play.

Agree with most batting two selections.

 

DK should be there instead of Dhoni.

And a new fast bowler like prasidhh instead if bhuvi in 11. 

Bhuvi, pant, chahal and jadeja will complete the 15

I would also like to have  dk or pant instead dhoni as we need a genuine six hitter on position where they bat, but unfortunately there is no stopping dhoni playing this WC even if dollar drops below rupee.

Well prasidh is good but we can't directly risk him in a tournament like WC, need bhuvis experience here.

My playing 11 would be

1. Dhawan

2. Rohit

3. Kohli

4. Dhoni/KL

5. KL/Dhoni

6. Kedar

7. H. Pandya

8. Jadeja

9. Bhuvi/Krunal

10. Kuldeep/Khaleel

11. Bumrah

 

Other Squad - Pant, Khaleel, Krunal, Mavi/Nagarkoti, Gill

 

Ideally would want pant in the playing 11, but it is not going to happen unless MS retire miraculously. Best thing would be to minimize the damage by making Dhoni play as less overs as possible. With the above 11 batting would be strong til Bhuvi @9  and Six bowling options. And Rohit should be asked to start practicing his off spinners again in the nets. If Rayadu/ Pandey/Thakur/ Axar/ Kaul / DK are selected it is going be a disaster, I am afraid the bafoon selectors might select the washed up players and screw the wc.

Chahal has to be phased out, as he offers nothing with bat, and joker of fielder.

Kedar is fine ,issue right now is guys like Rayudu and Karthik ,which seem to be above Rahul in the pecking order.

Also jadeja's bowling will be useless in England and he isnt a consistent big hitter,would rather have krunal but thats not happening I guess.

If Jadhav bats decently averaging 30+ with 130 strike rate he will be our number 6.  

 

In England we need at least 4 pace bowlers.  So Pandya is more or less a lock. 

 

Kuldeep is a lock

Bumrah will be a lock

Khaleel, bhuvi and chahal will play musical chairs among themselves.

 

Top order - Rohit/Dhawan/Kohli locks.

 

DK as backup is a lock . 

Dhoni /Pant is open ended. Pant will come in if dhoni retires. He will not replace DK.

Rahul should be there too. 

 

Last 2 spots in 16 member squad will go-to jadeja and maybe siraj if he does great in Australia.

Jadeja was a superb bowler in England when we won the CT last time. And if the pitches are dry, he could be handful

You need kedar and dhoni/DK . Only one of Rahul/pant can play now .

Sundar batting I am not convinced. He is more like Bhuvi and Pandya batting these days is like number 8.

Middle order consisting of Rahul and Pant may seem unreliable because they have not been given ample and consistent opportunities. Youngsters are hardly getting any chances and TTF or over the hill players are getting selected by our management due to the so called "experience factor.

Its not like our current middle order is winning us matches. This is the weakest middle order that I have seen in a very long time. We are not gaining anything by playing them. They can't win matches for India if our top 3 fails and not able to score heavily in the end even after top 3 sets a good platform thats why our batting nowadays is only about top 3. You get them out and India lose. So I would rather lose with youngsters than oldies.

 

Sundar is very underrated batsman. I believe he has more potential as a batting all rounder but he is being used otherwise. He is in the team to complete the quota of 5th bowler along with Pandya.

I think they'd go with 4 Specialist pacers instead of 3 and pick just 2 spinners. Agree on the rest of the squad.
