he would  like batting in australian pitches i guess .. no swing but pace and bounce .. expecting sehwag like run a ball innings through the series :aha:

considering his height , cummins , starc & co cnat target him with bouncers

Most exciting player in the team. Maybe Pant comes a close 2nd especially after his Knock in England.

Hopefully

We really need a few batsmen to nail their spots for long term.

There's question mark against every batsman apart from Kohli.

The problem is even if Shaw scores 100s with epic strikerates, he will be put on the bench in LOI’s and then he will start having the itch seeing all the accolades and ads going to the LOI players.

or

Shaw and one of Vijay or Rahul will perform which means one of them

will be dropped which means Dhawan will return and then we will see Rahul/Dhawan or Vijay/Dhawan opening again :((

Sehwag has two good innings in Australia in three tours.

I am talking about his strokeplay. Also Sehwag was a victim of his own hype. His 2 good innings were very well calculated and could have had more if he put his head to it. They were not absolute smack everything type innings.

Hope Shaw doesn’t go that way.

i  think he is  either going to be huge success as an opener or utter flop. To be precise there is no mid way it seems. He  seems to be an aggressive batsman by nature. He is so close to Lara than any body else in his methods. If he becomes at least 80% a batsman as Lara, then that would benefit the team immensely

Lol 80% Lara means almost an ATG

Let us tone down the expectations. Shaw has a huge learning curve ahead of him. Doing well in this series will be great for his development but its absolutely okay even if he doesn't do as well. Hope the management gives him the assurance that he will have all 4 tests and should go out there and have fun.

I wonder how heavily the Aussies will sledge him. Is sledging a part of elite honesty BS Aussies have been talking about?

yes... that is what I said 'if he succeeds' .... other wise with his method  he would be flop because grafting seems not the method  natural to him

There are plenty of examples like Sehwag,Warner,Slater etc who have had successful careers being compulsive strokeplayers.

one thing for sure.... he has great  hand eye coordination & reflexes. ' out and out speed' does not seem to trouble him at all. i think ENG is one place where he would meet with  the most examination.
