SRT100 Posted December 1, 2018 Posted December 1, 2018 Who Kohli selects for the 1st test v Australia in Adelaide will shape the entire series. India is actually better off going for a solid draw then being adventurous in selecting the team. The team must be 6 Batsmen, Pant and 4 bowlers. I think judging by the tour match that India will go with Rahul Vijay Pujara Kohli Rahane Rohit Pant Ashwin Shami Bumrah Ishant Its a long and strong batting lineup and IMO India need another match to get used to conditions in Australia. They can focus on winning in Melbourne and Sydney. Perth is tricky but India's team will benefit from the Adelaide conditions. Perth is a new ground, so we dont know if it will be bouncy like the past. If India dont lose the Adelaide test, I think they will win the series. In a perfect world I would play this team for the 1st test. Rohit Vijay Pujara Kohli Rahane Pant Jadeja/Kuldeep Ashwin Shami Bumrah Ishant The line up is still strong in terms of batting but the bowling is bolstered by the 5th bowler in Jadeja/Kuldeep

Vihari pujara kohli rahane pant Kuldeep ishant shammi bumrah. Kuldeep is attacking spinner..if he gets his trick then he is a match winner...even Vihari spins as fifth bowler. Shammi is in full form...ishant n bumrah shud bowl well too.
G_B_ Posted December 1, 2018 Posted December 1, 2018 Vijay Rahul Pujara Kohli Rahane Vihari Pant Shami Umesh Ishant Bumrah Thats the team I will play. IMO spinners will not offer India much. Keep it simple 7 batsman 4 bowlers. zen 1
Stan AF Posted December 1, 2018 Posted December 1, 2018 KL Rahul Vijay Pujara Kohli Rahane Rohit Pant Kuldeep Shami Ishanth Bumrah zen 1
CSK Fan Posted December 1, 2018 Posted December 1, 2018 Playing just with 4 bowlers without any all rounders means you are gonna kill them on a long tour Samcric 1
Stan AF Posted December 1, 2018 Posted December 1, 2018 Not if they keep it tight and take wickets. Kuldeep is my trump card with bumrah.
Samcric Posted December 1, 2018 Posted December 1, 2018 Given the long tail of Australia, India will NEED 5 bowlers. The only way that is possible is if you include 2 all-rounders - either Ashwin-Jadeja or Ashwin-Bhuvi. My bowling attack would be Bumrah, Bhuvi, Ishant and Shami along with Ashwin who would share the workload of 90 overs in a typical day as below: Bumrah/Bhuvi - 16 overs each Ishant - 18 overs Shami - 13-15 overs Ashwin - 25-27 overs (Vihari to chip in a few if required). I would also play Vihari in place of Pujara or Rahane in order to provide more bowling options. This series will be a tough grind and it would not be as easy to get wickets. 350+ scores may not be enough at least in Adelaide. My team would be: Rahul Vijay Pujara Kohli (c) Vihari Pant (wk) Ashwin (vc) Bhuvi Ishant Shami Bumrah
Stan AF Posted December 1, 2018 Posted December 1, 2018 I can't believe people expect Ashwin to take wickets overseas.
zen Posted December 1, 2018 Posted December 1, 2018 Too many threads on playing 11s .... Anyways KL Vijay Pujara Kohli Vihari Rahane / Rohit Pant One of the Yadavs Shami Ishant Bumrah
rtmohanlal Posted December 1, 2018 Posted December 1, 2018 (edited) Rahul Vijay Rahane Kohli Vihari Pant Jadeja Ashwin Kuldeep Bhuvi Bumrah feels it would be more effective being a bit unorthodox. My gut feeling is that bowling is going to revolve around 2 bowlers Bumrah & Kuldeep. If these 2 bowlers can provide those crucial breakthroughs others can compliment them well whether it be Shami/Umesh/Ishant or Jadeja/Ashwin/Bhuhvi . On the other hand if 'Bumrah & Kuldeep proves ineffective who ever be other bowlers, they can't do much. That being the case , feels it would be better to go with Jadeja/Ashwin/Bhuhvi because they can provide with some runs too. Also there is Vihari who can fill in with a few overs here and there and chip in with odd wkt here and there too. So 10 players who can bat & 6 players who can bowl is the way. Also don't have much faith in Pujara. If he is playing, he should open in place of Rahul. If he can play out the new ball just like Aakash chopra did in that 2004 tour, that would be helpful for other stroke players to follow. Edited December 1, 2018 by rtmohanlal

express bowling Posted December 1, 2018 Posted December 1, 2018 Playing 11 that I expect, based on the practice match 1. Vijay 2. Rahul 3. Pujara 4. Kohl 5. Rahane 6. Vihari 7. Pant 8. Ashwin 9. Ishant 10. Shami 11. Bumrah
