A R Rahman"s daughter's burqa on stage causes controversy

Wearing Burqa as a religious statement and empowerment is the biggest load of bull crap that can be ever told to you.

Taliban and other radical groups force the women to wear these burqas against their own will. How many women have a freedom of choice there? Hence the burqa naturally becomes a symbol of opression.

It is the biggest form

of  irony if someone chooses this tent as a symbol of liberation or some kind of a statement. Wearing a burqa as a statement is actually mocking those oppressed women

I don't think either purdah or burqa are regressive as long as the one who wears it is by one's own choice. Though for security purposes wherever necessary rules or laws should not take into account religious beliefs. In my personal opinion though girls or women should be as beautifully and elegantly dressed as they can. Short or conservatively dressed the overall look must be elegant.

Can imprisonment be by choice?

Girls from minorities are gradually changing. Guess it is only in Pakistan or Saudi that they must be covering full faces. Now you see lot of those girls showing clear faces, in nice dresses. They have started to smile looking at others. Finally they are living a life.

Its a tragedy that a religion with more than a billion followers essentially treats half its population as slaves.

It's a tragedy that the big 3 religion are all the same. Except, the jews and the muslims takes the book to the tea (am generalizing it here, not everyone is the same). If you ask me, one of the most evil creation of mankind = religion.
