Are everyone writing off Australia too early for the WC?

Either Oz will win their 6th WC or a team will have to go through them to win the trophy like SL 1996, Ind 2011. Presently I don't see any team that can challenge them in SF/F stage. They have never lost a WC SF and in summit clashes it took ATG performances to beat them. Leaning towards a 6th crown for the greatest cricket nation.

England can beat them with their batting might like they have done in the recent past.

It is a given that Aus will make the SF. So which of the teams are capable of beating them in KO stage?

I'll rate the chances as WI>Eng>Ind>NZ>Pak>Lanka>BD>Afg>>>>>>>Chokers. The reason I rate WI high is because of batting firepower, fearlessness and the fact that if they make SF they are motivated and on fire. When they are on :flame:they can beat any team. Also they tend to overachieve in ICC tournaments.

They are the most dangerous in my view at this point. Atleast you can pummel English bowling. You can't do the same against Australia.

Reckon they have the best ODI bowling unit in the world. Starc, Josh, Cummins, Stoinis, Zampa, Maxy....while we may equal them in terms of ability they'll be more clutch in big matches. The way we disintegrated in CT and also the Asia Cup final (BD should have done way better and closed out the match in their batting innings IMO) should send the shivers. Bumrah, Kulcha are weak in the mental department as of now, BK is mediocre and off form, Shami is unpredictable, our 6th option Jadhav will get decoded while Shankar is easy prey. Look at Australia's bench strength, NCN and Jhye both will walk into every other team in the world except may be RSA.

Their tail is no mug. THey have a leggie in their arsenal. Look at our fielding unit. Bumrah, Jadhav, Kuldeep, Chahal, Dhawan, Rohit, Hami if Pant plays Pant. That is way too many fielders to hide. Kohli is better but definitely not in the ranks of Md Kaif or Jaddu. ON the other hand every Australian player is a gun fielder.

At this rate India purely depends on crappiness off other teams not their own skills given the team combination

Precisely, some luck too will help. But it has happened before in the 83, 87 and 92 editions when the eventual winners overcame worse odds to win the Cup. We are better placed than those 3 WC winning teams despite all the weaknesses in our setup.

They have to hide at least 7 fielders. That has never been the case if you ask me. The 1980s maybe. But in this era, our fielding standard is mind-bogglingly pathetic.

Both Australia and Pakistan are going to hammer team Kohli in the World cup. Their teams are almost ready and they are going to field inform players.

Pakistan just lost 4-0 in their home conditions against Australia C side and you are saying they are ready? i think england and aus will be big threat but yeah pak can surprise on their day.

This is Pak's main team? They are testing their bench strength in this series.

If Aus would have played same xi as they played vs india then doesn't matter if it was full pak side they would have still got whitewashed.

they have the best bowing attack.

they have consolidators in steven smith and handscomb and khwaja

they have terrific openers in finch and warner

and they have terrific finishers in stoinis and maxwell

and all their bowlers can bat

and all their players can field...

they will wallop everyone this WC... we will need some luck to ensure we dont meet them and have some wildcard like windies knock them over and we get lucky over england and in finals meet windies where they screw up as usual and we play decently. this is the only way we can win WC.

else this looks to be a england vs australia final with windies and pakistan as potential upset machines...

doubt if we will reach semis..

It's not that straightforward for England. Their batting night could not win them a series against Windies. Also with the kind of hitting form the likes of Finch , Maxwell ,handscomb and khwaja are in, just add the likes of Warner and Smith and they can match England blow for blow. A much better array of bowlers to choose from as well. England have peaked too early. Australia are, collectively, peaking right in time for the world cup.
