Impossible to win the WC with Indian team's balance

That's the challenge for all teams. To pick a XI with right balance. Every team has to make compromises.

India's USP is 2 wristies along with Bumrah. Their 3rd seamer will be a compromise. Aus has to do with Stoinis/Maxwell as the 5th/6th bowler.

Ideally if 2 of your 5 best bowlers can bat well, it solves the problem of balance.

Can't compare with Aus, they have batting depth. The problem for Ind is not completing 5th bowlers quota but playing 5th bowler as 3rd seamer.

Are you kidding me again  Australia series. That was played in India. If Pandya was capable of batting no4 in odis India would have won test series in England and SA.He is no6 or no7 in odis any higher he will be exposed.

I disagree with you, he is a better batsman than that

Read my comment. I said we should have given chances to new batsmen earlier. To think that there are no real batsmen left in India, apart from the ones in this squad is preposterous. Kedhar adds nothing that a genuine batsman could have. Pandya could have been a makeshift bowler. But with 2 makeshift players, this team is imbalanced.

And I totally stick to my point. You stick to yours, I stick to mine. Now that Kohli is gone, lets see how these ' allrounders' fare as crucial pinch hitters.

Tell me who is the batsmen who could have been groomed from 2017???I have not seen any that is my view.

Bumrah Shami Bhuvi Chahal Pandya is a better combo for such conditions as today. It gives us options for new ball and slog overs if a seamer is having a bad day.

Two wristies are more suitable for sunny, drier conditions. That isn't the case now, even phehlukwayo gets a bit of seam movement.

Pandya is a 5th bowler, who happens to be the 3rd seamer. He is in the 11 for his batting and adds value by also bowling 6-8 overs in a game

The issue is more about finding the right combination among the 4 specialist bowlers, i.e. play 3 seamers and 1 spinner OR 2 seamers and 2 spinners. Also Bhuvi is more like a 4th-5th bowler so closer to Pandya than a Shami, who goes for wkt. So may be we needed to have a 4th pacer like Saini in the squad in place of someone like Shankar

Why do much wrist slitting so early on? Even the first match isn't over yet

This isnt about slitting the wrist, just pointing out a potential hole

The thread title is also misleading. It is like Ind cannot win the WC with Jadhav as the 3rd spinner (or Shankar as whatever bowler)

That is good in theory, now a days it is impossible to play with just five bowlers who cannot bat.

Sorry, thought you were talking about the need of 6th bowler.

"you cannot play with just five bowlers even if they are Glen Mcgraths." .. that phrasing suggested you were talking about bowling not batting.

But why now? Because SA's lower order batting clicked?

There is no such thing as a perfect combination. You cant have 5 or 6 wicket taking options and also have batting depth. What you need to find is a balance. When you consider Pandya's batting lower down the order, his bowling is a decent trade off.

yes I am talking about sixth bowler, since you cannot have five no 11s , you need to have two players who can bat and bowl to make batting lineup longer. If we follow your options, batting ends after no5.

It's not about this match at all, it's a general flaw with this lineup

They are compromising in spin bowling. Only 1 main spinner (who isn't yet in the league of Tahir/Chahal/Kuldeep) and 1 part-timer in Maxwell. If they pick Lyon as the 2nd spinner they'll weaken their pace bowling.

A very simple concept but somehow many here are finding it awfully difficult to understand.

When we are batting ... no depth, no depth, no depth.

When we in early parts of our bowling .... no 3rd pacer, Pandya is weakening our bowling big time .... and in the middle overs, want both wrist spinners.

Can India strengthen their fast bowling even on green pitches, we are playing in England and India is carrying one seamer light and one spinner too many.

For later tournaments, we need to find a frontline bowler who can bat at No.7 and is a big hitter too.

Can Mavi or Nagarkoti fit this role   ?   Time will tell.

No, they cant. They are no better than BK.
