Yes, a team(Pak/BD) has a chance to qualify even on 9 points. Lanka/England still have chance to qualify even with 10 points if other results go their way.

 

India, Australia, NZ almost confirmed.

Out of the lot, realistically England has the best chance to qualify, second Pakistan, third Bangladesh. After today's loss, SL would be kicking themselves (but their team is crappy, not more was expected from them).

 

Eng win both, everyone else goes home. Win one, hope is still alive for both BD/pak. SL won't make it just because of nrr. Even if eng looses one match, eng NRR> SL.

 

Depending on England and how their games goes, pak are in best possible position. Upcoming is AFG which I see no reason for them to loose followed by BD. 

 

BD has it harder than pak cause their next assignment is ind. But even a loss against Ind and a win against pak will see them through cause nrr is better. Unless pak does something dramatic against AFG to improve nrr.

I think England has the tough route because even if they beat India, England will run into Williamson boys and more than likely one of their two openers will go bezerk. Guptil has been bit unlucky in few games and had a decent starts earlier and is likely to fire at some point. England really needs to play top cricket to not just beat India, but also New Zeland. Beating NZ will be as hard as beating India.

In 2000s, SA and WI did not make it to KOs

 

In 2010s, hosts/co-hosts have made it to the final

 

If the trend continues, Eng picks up its game and does not crack under pressure, it can go to the final (Or even win it like it win the T20 WC)

Actually another theory is that England can quality even at 10 points if Pakistan loses to Bangladesh, and Bangladesh loses to India - Both Pakistan and Bangladesh are then stuck at 9 points while England quality beating just one of India or NZ.

If Ind beat Eng, they will be under lot of pressure against NZ, which NZ can capitalize on. OTOH, NZ don't really have batting except for Kanos. And only Boult for bowling. So, interesting match up.

This is true. By July 3rd we will know if BD v Pak has any meaning to it or not. England win loss against NZ will confirm that.

England loses any of the two tough games, Vs India and NZL, they are out , if Pak beat both Afghanistan and BD, which they are expected to.

If NZL lose both tough remaining games against England and Australia, they are out. 

If BD loses any one of the two remaining games, Vs India and Pak, they are out 

 

So, 4 teams Eng, NZL, Pak and BD fighting for 2 remaining SF slots.

I think Bang has better chance than Pak as Bangladesh got better NRR.. they win and points will be tied and they go through..

Don't know why but I have a feeling England will go through with 10 points and Pakistan/BD will win only 1 match out of their two remaining matches .
