Gollum Posted July 1, 2019 Posted July 1, 2019 (edited) Overall: WCs: High time he redeems himself, time running out. After that 'mother of all pathetic knocks' in 2015 SF anything less than a matchwinning 100 in SF/F will dent the reputation and historical standing of this 'better than Viv' batsman. Don't care about Cycle Agarbathi and Murugappa Group bilaterals, this is the real deal. Easy batting conditions yesterday, well set batting at 60 odd, Rohit at the other end, no pressure cos of points table, mediocre trundling by Poms, enough batting to follow and what does brat do? Even more unpardonable than his brainfade against RSA in our opening match. Hope for India's sake he justifies his ODI reputation, enough of stats boosting against 3rd string attacks in useless JAMODIs. WCs are where legacies are defined. He might never be an overall master of WCs like Sachin, Ponting, ABDV or Viv but 1/2 amazing knocks will salvage his credentials. Edited July 1, 2019 by Gollum Stradlater, Stan AF and Vijy 3
Stan AF Posted July 1, 2019 Posted July 1, 2019 Dhawan is our best batsman in World cups. Rohit until this year was 2nd best and now he is giving a fight for that place. Everyone else is quite mediocre and not warrant a discussion.
rtmohanlal Posted July 1, 2019 Posted July 1, 2019 really really diasppointing .Look at the huge gap between that in bilaterals & that in world cup!!!!!!! ..... simply unbelievable. Either he give up captaincy or redeem himself .This is ruining his legacy....
mishra Posted July 1, 2019 Posted July 1, 2019 Nope, outrage should have been against the ground and playing conditions. As usual ECB cheated with 53 mtr boundry. Hope, its not repeated AuxiliA and Real McCoy 2
SK_IH Posted July 1, 2019 Posted July 1, 2019 I am positive, he is just in sedate mode by his standards. I will not mind seeing a Kohli classic in semi final. I am certain there will be one defining innings in this tournament. Adi BB 1

India got a turning pitch against Aussies in Motera 2011, Aussies got a pancake in the 2015 SF. Their fresh pitch was closer to one side of the boundary and they used it for the match, blame lies with us for failing to adapt. Team selection itself was wrong, 2 spinners on a fresh wicket with those ground dimensions , England got everything right starting from team selection, they even left out the India basher Moeen which IMO was a brave call. Every bowler has are where the want catch in deep boundry. How is it same? 53 mtrs was as intentional it can go.

Instead his performance was far off than his normal self.... why???? Ajju 1

Ground conditions do matter. England has a side filled with part time bats who will crap in trousers if faced with decent bowling attack in decent pitch. There is a reason for minimum length if boundry and it was breached for a reason. Its not possible to analyse bowler vs batting style but I am certain that the analysis would have been done by Kohli else he wouldn’t have raised this

No way in hell Smith is capable of chasing big total. He can chase 250 kind of total. While batting first he can score a100. Imagine if Australia were chasing 327 in the semis i am pretty sure he would have failed as well.

But if we consider any standars etc kohli is best chaser in odi but i think not in knockouts or imp games he was beast till 2015 wc
Adi BB Posted July 1, 2019 Posted July 1, 2019 Kohli batting at 3 has a strike rate of 93 ,while thaila the so called feared finisher has a paltry strike rate of 87 . A finisher having a strike rate of 87 especially with so many not outs is not that great in the modern game

Now, lets be realistic. Every bat has strong area. Ground condition can change a bowler from attacking to defensive if he knows that there is a strip where he must not bowl as miss hit will go for 6 or one bounce 4
Adi BB Posted July 1, 2019 Posted July 1, 2019 I wont complaint at all if theres a match winning knock in the KOs ,kohli has to rise up to the occasion and I think he will ,he is due a big one

This thing can not go on. Rules are rules. Its like saying that you don’t need to run 22 yds as we have made pitch of 20 yds for one particular game. Sancity of Minimum 65 mtrs ground must not be raped
