Kohli acknowledged that. True, but his point is simple it was one extraordinary coincidence that the pitch was at such place that it met the minimum requirement exactly. Of course, it wasn’t a coincidence was it? English gambled knowing India will play two spinners and it worked out spectacularly. Gollum 1
Gollum Posted July 1, 2019 Author Posted July 1, 2019 Hope resident Kohli fanboys add their pearls of wisdom here. King is waiting for a successor. Even though that day will never come let us see if Kohli can get somewhat close.

But I think this much of home advantage is kosher, we badly blundered in our team selection mishra 1

But I think this much of home advantage is kosher, we badly blundered in our team selection Yes, we tend not to change the winning combination. The English used it to their advantage, the way their batsmen played the reverse, it was a definite game plan to take advantage of the small boundaries, not something they cooked up on field. India should take note and come up with a way to counter this the next time they meet. mishra 1

Situation perfectly suited him. Batting first on a road. Chasing a smallish total in the final on a road. Smith's overall ODI stats testify that. Mere 41. If Kohli stays at the wicket INdia will win. That is what matters. It is a matter of converting now. Although this match was not really a significant match he was up for it until he played a loose shot.

Hope, its not repeated That short boundary was ridiculous but wasn't it short for us also? Why couldn't our batters plan to target it just like the English did?
Amit228 Posted July 1, 2019 Posted July 1, 2019 Truth being told dhawan was the vital cog in Indian batting schemes of things. With dhawan gone rohit nd kohli have been under serious pressure. With a ludicrous middle nd lower order sans pandya they know one of them has to bat through out now this has impacted their free flowing game.. as it was evident from previous games where kohli who builds on singles nd doubles was bogged down from other ends where dot balls kept on piling. Kohli needs a busy player with him on the other end. Same goes for rohit who needs dhawan to give him a breather at the start. Dhawan used to bat at brisk pace which kept pressure out of Kohli's nd rohit's shoulders. Now with dhawan gone nd a mental midget like rahul on other end who has forgotten how to hold bat, the much touted indian top order has been under some serious pressure in recent times.

It was much easier to deposit the spinners over the short boundary than the pacers which English used. also the English were better prepared to take advantage of the small boundary, because I am sure they had a hand in determining it. nevada 1

India got a turning pitch against Aussies in Motera 2011, Aussies got a pancake in the 2015 SF. Their fresh pitch was closer to one side of the boundary and they used it for the match, blame lies with us for failing to adapt. Team selection itself was wrong, 2 spinners on a fresh wicket with those ground dimensions , England got everything right starting from team selection, they even left out the India basher Moeen which IMO was a brave call. That wasn't a turning pitch in 2011. Aus scored 260.
-Robin- Posted July 1, 2019 Posted July 1, 2019 Short boundary excuse will make even pakistanis excuse look good lol

Pratik77 Posted July 1, 2019 Posted July 1, 2019 How many batsmen have scored century while chasing nd also his team winning(chasing of target above 300)...very handful nd against not so great attack... O'Brian against eng in 11 Kevin P. Against Wi in 07 Thirimane nd Sangakara vs eng in 15 Shakib against Wi this WC... Chasing 300 be it against even Minnow team isn't easy...all batsmen needs to chip in...nd look at our batting apart from vk nd rohit...msd nd jadhav were useless literally...

Not a rank tuner but had enough to keep our spinners interested, also slow, double paced which Aussies hate. They batted really well that day, especially Ponting.
Amit228 Posted July 1, 2019 Posted July 1, 2019 A poor workman always blames his tools. Kohli knows that jhadhav nd dhoni couldn't have evn cleared 30 yards cricle with all the lunges on hoicks which was cringe inducing to say the least. When u don't have capability nd skills u harp about how pitch suddenly changed behaviour nd how boundaries were short.. embrace the reality, jhadhav nd dhoni are pedestrian batsmen.. they bat at run a ball when situation demands 10 run per over nd they bat 3 runs per over when situation demands run a ball..

After that 'mother of all pathetic knocks' in 2015 SF anything less than a matchwinning 100 in SF/F will dent the reputation and historical standing of this 'better than Viv' batsman. Don't care about Cycle Agarbathi and Murugappa Group bilaterals, this is the real deal. Easy batting conditions yesterday, well set batting at 60 odd, Rohit at the other end, no pressure cos of points table, mediocre trundling by Poms, enough batting to follow and what does brat do? Even more unpardonable than his brainfade against RSA in our opening match. Hope for India's sake he justifies his ODI reputation, enough of stats boosting against 3rd string attacks in useless JAMODIs. WCs are where legacies are defined. He might never be an overall master of WCs like Sachin, Ponting, ABDV or Viv but 1/2 amazing knocks will salvage his credentials. nothing very surprising so far. we all know Bratman is a bit of a mental midget in ODI WCs (and CTs), albeit not in T20s. If we play Oz in SF, it's likely that either Smith or Warner will school him in the art of scoring in high-pressure matches. Stan AF and nevada 1 1
