Gollum Posted July 1, 2019 Posted July 1, 2019 (edited) They are the main reason we lost the match yesterday. They bowled worse than what Ash-Jaddu did in the CT final (also on a fresh pitch), but aren't getting anywhere near the same blame. KOs will be played on fresh pitches as is the norm and now time to question whether the duo are indeed inseparable !!! I liked what I saw in Bhuvi against Pak, a better new ball bowler than Bumrah, better at death than Shami besides strengthening our pathetic tail as well...better fielder than either of the 2 wristies to boot. Most likely our semi will be against England on the same ground as yesterday, who knows maybe the same pitch with same ground dimensions !!! Scars will be deep for our spinners, play just one of them preferably Kuldeep who has a higher ceiling. Other changes have to be made in light of yesterday's spineless show but let us stick to KulCha here. We might have to go through Eng/Aus to lift the cup and neither of those teams seem to have great troubles against our wristies, Poms have owned these two for 3 consecutive ODIs and Aussies tamed them in India, a couple of instances on more difficult decks than the ones we will see in the KOs. SK_IH Posted July 1, 2019 Posted July 1, 2019 Jadeja for me. If pitches remain the same, he can be a decent bowler
Adi BB Posted July 1, 2019 Posted July 1, 2019 Jadeja is a useless mug ,would be smashed regardless of the pitch, had he played yesterday he too would have been smashed for 70 odd, while batting too he would have mugged around like jhadav did ,probably even worse ,its just that he's sitting on the sidelines we are thinking of him as a viable option. If the pitches are fresh ,We can make a change by replacing chahal with bhuvi . Kohli is making a big mistake by not bowling kulcha on tandem ,he's bowling chahal too late
Sooda Posted July 1, 2019 Posted July 1, 2019 What could or should they have done differently yesterday? Bowled better lines so that the short boundary was not so easy to target?

Amit228 Posted July 1, 2019 Posted July 1, 2019 Surely bhuvi comes in. There is high chances of india meeting England in semifinal. Shami's death bowling credentials are deplorable, bhuvi can very well support bumrah in death overs. It was evident from yesterday's match the bowlers who did change of pace succeeded. Pandya nd shami did a good job in middle overs however they were taken for plenty in death overs just cause they wanted to emulate bumrah's yorker workmanship nd abstained from doing Change of pace. They kept trying to hit yorkers dishing cushy fulltosses nd kept going for boundaries.
mishra Posted July 1, 2019 Posted July 1, 2019 I live in the same region and On Saturday I played on a pitch which was full of grass, the kind Indian fans shudder. However temperatures soared upto 32 degrees. There was no seam movement for me. All we had was bounce. Variable bounce. We need some rain, which is due, just a little and grass will start doing the trick.
ViruDilSeKhelo Posted July 1, 2019 Posted July 1, 2019 Very good what happened yesterday for the team, we needed some testing! I am confident we will win this cup and we eliminated Pakistan essentially. I think it was the short boundary more than anything at Edgbaston. I will still back our attacking wristies on any ground. They've had one bad game, that's it, remarkable for a pair of wristies. Unfortunately their value is entirely with the ball which is why people are asking questions. They can't bat like Jaddu and Ashwin and it's a fair point. I still prefer Chahal to Kuldeep despite yesterday, Chahal is a smarter bowler and has troubled batsmen more than Kuldeep this tournament. Kuldeep is like on repeat mode, windmill one handed action and easy to nurdle.
Ankit_sharma03 Posted July 1, 2019 Posted July 1, 2019 Depends a lot on other things as well 1. New pitch can be slow due to dampness and get better as game progress and sun bakes down. 2. How hot is the day coz if its very hot pitch is better for spinners in that case 3. ground dimension.....huge ground go for kulcha Weather, ground dimensions, opp players all have to be seen

mishra Posted July 1, 2019 Posted July 1, 2019 We lost because of selection. Yesterday, we needed Jadeja. Lets not do more mistakes. Jadeja must play depending upon opposition

We never look at the pitch though like other teams, we simply choose what we think is the best attack. Nasser said it straight away at the beginning of this game, india did not read pitch.

IMO we needed both Shankar and Jadeja. A spinner with ball going away from lefiteis also Jaddu has done well on crappy English wickets

Agree with what you wrote. However, while Kuldeep has a higher ceiling, to me he has been the greater disappointment this WC apart from that beauty to Babar. We should play them in one game each across the remaining 2 games, and choose the better one for KOs. And immediately post-WC, we need to start looking at Rahul Chahar and esp. Gopal. Latter can field, bat and bowl very well. Unlike Bhuvi, who is more of a tuk-tuk bat, Gopal can score at a decent SR too. Gollum 1

On pattas, he will get a royal smashing like in CT 2017. he is a gun Test player and substitute fielder, and should be used only for these roles. Shankar does not add much with either bat or ball. if anything, even though I don't like DK as well, it's better to have him in and send him at 7 and ask him to play a pure T20 game. Gollum 1
