Not that his bowling would’ve made any difference as he’s a liability on the team anyway... I heard this view in Aaj Tak after India lost to England... The panel which comprised of Madan Lal, Bhajji etc were discussing KeJo issue of strain in his legs due to his bowling action. Hence team management was playing this one dimensional player as pure batsman... He might retain his place due to him being CSK mates of M$D and at the expense of Kuldeep but no guarantee if he’ll bowl much in today’s match... He’ll play as a batsman and a mediocre fielder only...

Pant was flown overnight and immediately selected. Vijay Shankar surprisingly got 'injured' in the nets. They can't drop Dhoni because they are allowing him few last matches before he retires... G_B_ Posted July 2, 2019 Posted July 2, 2019 well he does have a great average and strike rate.... plus he has played 3 innings. So its not as if he was carried through the tournament. Right to be dropped but they did the right thing of giving him a proper chance.

ShoonyaSifar Posted July 2, 2019 Posted July 2, 2019 Was he even fully fit to bowl? Never moved very swiftly on the field and looked uncomfortable when throwing. I think the TM knew this all along that both Shankar and Jadhav were half fit but in their cockiness to justify their WC squad selection kept playing them. I have a bad sense about Bhuvi and his injury as well. Not sure if he is fully fit either.
